I have been working at Sellen Construction full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Sellen has a very strong company culture. In general, it's a very positive environment -- everyone is pulling for you to succeed and willing to help out however they can. Whether you've been there for 10 years or 10 days, they are committed to supporting their employees growth and development.

From what I've witnessed, perhaps their best strength is their willingness to fit a role to each individual's skills. In other words, they're not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. They will put you in a position to succeed based on what you do best.

Bottom line: if you are willing to put in the work, your supervisor will work with you to understand your career aspirations and ensure that you've got the training and skills needed to get there.

    Cons

The compensation package is good, but not best-in-class.

    Pros

Work life balance is second to none. Most employees are very friendly and helpful. The company cares about their public image and is constantly engaged in volunteering events.

    Cons

Your career will not grow, at least for a very long time. No real logic to their promotion method/determination. Very limited frank feedback is given in regard to your career development.

    Advice to Management

Be honest and upfront in regards to career development and advancement. Present the metrics used to determine promotions. Develop your employees.

I have been working at Sellen Construction full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, challenging, rewarding, wonderful clients and projects, caring leadership, I am fortunate to have found Sellen! I had been in the industry with a few other firms and Sellen is the best that I have experienced. I believe I have found a home to grow my career while supporting my life outside of work.

    Cons

Things can be fluid at times with projects changing and roles adjusting. This should be expected in the industry however.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Sellen Construction full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

From my first day as an intern to my current day to day role, I have continued to feel completely supported and encouraged to learn and grow as a professional within the construction industry. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of some of the most interesting and community impacting projects within the greater Seattle area. Sellen has and continues to provide the platform for me to be challenged while enjoying my work environment through a variety of positive company characteristics such as:

Fantastic team atmosphere and company culture. Adaptive to innovation and emerging technologies within the industry. Multiple avenues to better the Seattle community through organized volunteering and philanthropic groups. Continuous opportunities to learn and grow within a rewarding work environment. Investment in team growth and development both within and outside the workplace. Bandwidth, skillets, and relationships to work with and some of the areas greatest clients, on the most complex projects, in a variety of diverse project types. Internal courses for personal and career development.

    Cons

Continued transparency with higher level strategies and company direction.
