I have been working at Seminole Tribe of Florida full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

From resume submission to hiring to first day was seamless. I felt very welcomed! When I came into work the first day, I had a few goodies waiting for me, and my log in credentials worked! I can not tell you how important that was for me. After coming from a company where you were left (sometimes) for weeks without access to necessary systems, the excitement I had when I found out I could log on the computer, all necessary systems and email, well, let's just say I was overjoyed. The management in my department are very professional and very supportive. They encourage professional development and a positive work/life balance. Other staff I have encountered have been very friendly and welcoming as well. The pay is higher than industry norms and the weekly pay is an added plus! The STOF have some really great benefits, full medical, dental, vision, 401(k) (with a small % matching), larger than industry standard life insurance. The fixed hours (8-5 M-F for HQ) is incredible. With my position, I get to travel to each of the 4 main reservations on a monthly basis where I get to meet more wonderful staff and members. Learning Tribal culture has also been a wonderful experience. I have been able to participate in a few Food Truck events, and Bagel Fridays. There is an employee lounge with plenty of seating that is stocked with coffee, tea and hot chocolate, a fridge/freezer and several microwaves. If you don't want to stay inside for lunch, there are several chickee huts that are great to relax and enjoy during breaks. Overall, I am very, very happy here and can not wait to see what my future holds.

    Cons

The main downside that I see is parking, which is really not that bad if your time management is good. The shuttle from the remote lot is on time and runs on a pretty consistent schedule. The shuttle seems to be 'the place' to get the scoop on what's going on. I'm pretty much the stick to yourself kind of person so I don't pay much attention.

I have been working at Seminole Tribe of Florida full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You are properly compensated for the work that you do. I don't personally feel like I am underpaid. The people I work with are great. I don't know about other departments.

    Cons

Every Tribal member is technically your boss and you can't please everyone. So sometimes, you will deal with some difficult personalities. But most of the time, it's a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

Stand up for your employees more.

I worked at Seminole Tribe of Florida full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, time off and holidays

    Cons

If you are lazy, unprofessional, unethical and incompetent then this is the place for you. Good employees leave because people in management positions don't care about them, their concerns or the tribal communities.

    Advice to Management

My advice is for tribal council and EAO, you really need to pay attention to what's going on in the departments. There are people running these departments that have no idea what they're doing and frankly don't even care about anything especially the tribal members. There are plenty of complaints that go through HR and higher up but nothing ever happens which only gives the incompetent managers the confidence that they can and will get away with everything bad.

I worked at Seminole Tribe of Florida full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free Food - After Executive Meetings; leftovers are offered to the help.

Gain knowledge of what you want out of the next job you take.

    Cons

No onsite parking - You must be bused in from a off site parking lot. Miss the bus and you are hiking. You must follow the ever changing shuttle schedule. The shuttles are over-packed. Crossing the main road is at your own risk!

Kronos clocking - working to clocks is counter productive. Run to make the strictly kept time. You will be punished if you do not follow the clocking in and out rules..

Lower wages - (especially for females) Women in management make less than their male equivalents.

No growth - unless you are part of the clique. You can work hard but promotions are for friends of the management.

Respect or appreciation from Executive management is not extended.

    Advice to Management

Why bother, they don't care. Nothing will change.
