    Pros

Coworkers are great and middle management truly wants to see you successful, just as they seek to be successful. This company is a great place to get your feet wet in the industry, but long-term success is going to be hard to come by.

    Cons

Sempermed is not good at keeping their sales staff inspired or competitively compensated. Not every division at Sempermed is the same, however, so take this comment lightly. On the sales side, they have a hard time keeping long-term representatives for these reasons. As with any company, you often get what you put into it, but with Sempermed you might have to put in a little more than expected.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the industry and add products which help your team to stand out from the crowd, not just add to it. Keep your sales staff excited about a product or program of value to pass along to customers, add more comprehensive in-field training, and raise the base salary to something closer to industry standard. If sales persons are not excited, the customers won't be either.

    Pros

A lot of freedom, management is patient with the long sales process. They don't bust your chops often with your expenses.

    Cons

Compensation plan needs drastic overhaul. Under average salary and commission resets every year after increasing throughout the year. Hard to maintain a lifestyle. Way too many repetitive spreadsheets.

    Advice to Management

Pay the sales force more. With such a long term sell, long term employees would be hugely beneficial to making headway in the market. Way to much turnover. Quit wasting so much time with pointless and repetitive reports and spreadsheets.

I worked at Sempermed USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Unlimited Expense Account without any accountability. Great atmosphere if you think free lunch on Friday and Semperfun days are great company benefits.

    Cons

The list of Cons resembles a company on the path to arrogance and socialism. The inability to hire effective leadership is record breaking. They continue to hire from outside the company and outside the direct industry. Many directors are clueless to develop any sense of leadership and understand what distribution is truly about. They micromanage and hire military graduates whom demand and dictate versus develop leaders to either advance careers or skills. The training program is absolutely useless and the marketing department will train you to adhere to the sales strategy they employ or you will be banished from the inside clicks that exist in the corporate office. The Executive leadership acts like everyone is family till they turn on you and limit your financial success through devious corporate house account schemes to take commissions away from you and pad their own pockets. The company in the past 3 years has hired and fired or driven off countless sales leaders who could have made an impact if the executive team was aware of their true market potential and not blinded by their lack of vision.

    Advice to Management

My advice is to look around and understand what the market can provide. Don't let your inept directors run the show as if they know what the true direction is within the market. Hire competent people who truly care about building people and actually know what a true leader is designed to do not what some book said they should do or some DISC assessment said they should be like. Open your minds to the reality that gloves are insignificant to the world but a required necessity. Once you realize how a true market share program and strategy should be rolled out hire as many talented leaders as you can don't rely on phycholgist babble with DISC assessments and truly drive business and pay their their true worth not what you think is your idea of fair. Until then you should fire all sales people and justify the incredibly low salaries you offer and reinvest that cost savings into a real marketing program and sales strategy.

I worked at Sempermed USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company brings in lunch on Fridays. They provide detailed training for new hires. This company likes to drink and party. They give out an award each year to the person that can drink the most, stay out the latest and still perform at their job the next day. (Big dog)

    Cons

This company lacks goals and direction from upper management. If you work here, you have to be comfortable with chaos and constant contradiction from management. Overall Employee morale was very low at this company. The working atmosphere lacks professionalism and Is negative. There are frequent yelling outburst and even the use of profanity in meetings. There is a very high turnover rate each year at Sempermed. The overall income is also much lower than promised. The Sales reports are also off. Sales reps complain about missing sales tracings and lack of compensation for their account closes.

    Advice to Management

Hire new managers. It is a bad sign if your entire team quits within 1.5 years. This is a common theme amongst all divisions of the company. The managers here have big egos that interferes with the way they communicate.

    Pros

Very understanding management team when it comes to family. Fun atmosphere. If you work hard, you will gain a lot.

    Cons

Most of the management is great and can be trusted, there are a few that seem to be very rude, somewhat manipulative and only out for their own self interest

    Advice to Management

To keep morale up, be sure to keep your eyes open on some of those unstable "managers". While it is good that you support and back your management team, you should really listen to what other colleagues and employees are saying about them and take some corrective action. It will help you retain good, hard-working employees who care versus the others. These managers are causing major turmoil both in the field and internally and causing good employees to leave your company. It's a shame because I know others who have left would have liked to have stayed, but couldn't.

I have been working at Sempermed USA full-time

    Pros

Very good compensation and benefits. Enjoy the people I work with. This company does a lot for the community via charitable donations, etc. And for employees by way of company events and recognition.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement depending on the position you are in but that could change down the road. Small company mindset will not work as well as the company continues to grow. There is a bigger need for structure, including policies, procedures and training programs.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate the feeling of "us and them" (Leadership Team and everyone else). Start communicating more to everyone else and listening to what everyone else has to say and then institute positive change that may improve employee morale, results and the bottom line.
