    Pros

Work-life balance was good. Seemed to be consistent across the company. Stock was steady and revenues solid year after year.

    Cons

    Internal politics made it uncomfortable

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to each department....dive deeper. Not all groups are run the same in the company. Need consistency in management, retention, and employee treatment.

I have been working at Sempra Energy as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can't say much about reasons to work here unless the team and team members and manager you are assigned to are interacting with you about work and also how you are doing?

    Cons

The team i was assigned had very poor project management, they just take their resources for granted. Even after letting them know of your concerns they are still at their own things not even bothering about your issue. And i thought managers were supposed to be good with their team or at least formally introduce themselves. Which in my case was not so. And Wanted to share a particular thing about this team member i was working with, who by the way is one of the most rude and unprofessional people i have come across. All they wanted is just to work according to their norms and not even bothered about our inputs. I would warn people about this person.

    Advice to Management

Please interact with each and everyone of your employee, be it your own or a contractor. If not you are going to get a lot of negative remarks.

    Pros

If you are into "slumming it" and wasting your day, this is the place for you. The pay is good, expectations are extremely low and management is clueless. A perfect place to strive for mediocrity!

    Cons

Management too focused on "perception" rather than getting the job done. Innovation is strongly discouraged. Status quo is the norm. The hierarchy of Senior management doesn't allow for Peons to be in the same elevator as them. Senior management are glorified like deities. Have to get on your knees and swallow your pride among other things to get ahead. Tends to promote incompetent people rather than firing them - similar to our public school system

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees - they know more than you and have had real jobs and bring real-world expertise to an aging dinosour that claims to have integrity and embrace innovation.

    Pros

The pay is high and generally it's a stable, secure place to work.

    Cons

Senior management is completely out of touch with the employees. It's extremely hierarchial and senior management won't interact with anyone that's not at their level. The division between the employees and management is further exasperated by the fact that they have drivers, executive chefs and most don't even ride the elevators with employees. The company is in the middle of a reputation management initiative to improve their reputation with the community, employees and others and the whole thing is a joke because senior managment doesn't even care about it.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees, recognize their hard work and share information!

    Pros

Well i would hae to say that the pay and the bonuses are one reason to work for this company. IN all honesty i have only been there for 3 months but i think the biggest problem i see is lack of communication from managment to their employees. It is also very frustrating because the current manger in our department has no clue on how to run a department, so there is no structure.

    Cons

incompetent managers and lack of communication

    Advice to Management

Hire managers that have some experience with Managing individuals
