I worked at Seneca Resorts & Casinos part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good and team members are great. The management was rather lazy but genuinely cared for their employees. It's a great learning experience.

    Cons

Very strict points system makes it hard at times and can work against you if you loose favor with managers

    Advice to Management

Be more invested in your jobs, but then again the pay isn't great and they're kind of just stuck there until there's room to move up.

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are competitive.

    Cons

If you are a member of the Seneca Nation your job is for life, and you get first dibs on promotions. If you're not, no equal and fair treatment under DOL law. All bets are off there.

    Pros

    Easy to advance. Good pay.

    Cons

Micromanagement to the extreme. They also do not respect there long-term employees at all. You will definitely work every holiday with possibilities of maybe getting off for one a year. They do not respect your personal life. And god forbid you actually have something going on outside of work they don't care. Terrible point system that allows you to take off 10 days out of your entire year. And then not be able to take off unless you use your sick time or make up your points every three months you'll get one back. Uniforms never get replaced you'll have the same two shirt uniform forever.

    Advice to Management

    Respect your employees.

I worked at Seneca Resorts & Casinos full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

IT experience was varied and fairly flexible day to day. Opportunity for advancement was there, but not overly so. Manager was excellent.

    Cons

Pay is not competitive for the industry, even accounting for location. Very clique-ridden culture was plainly evident. Like many places if they want you gone, you will be gone, even if the reason stretches the imagination/is illegal. Act as though they're above Federal law due to sovereignty.

    Advice to Management

Cultural fit isn't everything; sometimes you just want to retain good people. Open up career planning/promotions to more than just Senecas.

    Cons

I worked at Seneca Resorts & Casinos full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers. Most people are helpful and dedicated, but way under appreciated.

    Cons

Executives and managers constantly fight amongst themselves. Rampant favoritism and high turnover rate in all departments. Very little acknowledgment for a job well done, but an over abundance of criticism.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees more. Remember to say "thank you" (and mean it!)
