I have been working at Seneca Resorts & Casinos part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I have been a dealer for four years now. The Niagara location is a fun place to work. We get paid more than we should. It is an easy job once you learn the games. We get twenty minute breaks every hour or hour and 20 minutes. We eat at our own cafeteria for free. Most supervisors are actually really nice if you do what they ask. I see some former table games dealers posting whiney reviews and it blows my mind. If...

    Cons

It's a very smokey environment. We share tips and this encourages some dealers to not try and make money. It's still good money, though.

    Advice to Management

Consider making it non-smoking or reducing smoking on the gaming floor. Instead of hiring more part-timers, offer more dealers full time. It's the main reason most people leave the company. Get rid of dealers that have a bad reputation with customers so that your good dealers can make better money. Consider changing the way our tips work. We work hard and want to see the benefits!

I have been working at Seneca Resorts & Casinos full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits paid lunch/ excellent team dining room food also free

    Cons

Minimal raises. Unless Seneca born you have no real job security.

    Advice to Management

I understand taking care of your own and I applause that however when you have an employee with 10 yrs in all great reviews and a new Seneca born walks in the door making as much as mgr because they receive mileage . That is a blatant slap and makes your non-native employees feel unappreciated and questions any job security ever. The ratings below reflect only for non natives. I believe it is a wonderful opportunity...

I have been working at Seneca Resorts & Casinos full-time

    Pros

Great benefits 401K, 2 weeks paid vacation to start but up to 4 weeks paid vacation, sick time, free dining for team members, EAP assistance when needed, sick time buy back program, weight room, team member health office, christmas bonus, annual bonus, easy to move from dept to dept and climb the corporate chain.

    Cons

All three casinos are completely different. Allegany is laid back and slow, Buffalo Creek is a family and slow during the day but really busy after events let out next store at the Key Bank Center and Niagara is just corporate and cut throat.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on retaining the team members you have and building relationships with them instead of making them feel beneath you. Meaning role up your sleeves and show them you can do the same job as them from time to time.

I worked at Seneca Resorts & Casinos full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They feed you free every day. Good benefits. Can be exciting environment.

    Cons

They treat professionals like kids. Salaried jobs have to clock in, and out, and you get docked vacation time or pay if you don't work exactly 40 hours one week, even though you worked 60 last week with no extra compensation. Hardly a salary job. The HR department needs lots of work. They are under trained, and don't handle situations correctly, it's their way only. It's an HR fest over there, I've have never seen...

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Seneca Resorts & Casinos full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The free food in the cafeteria is the only thing that made me consider staying.

    Cons

I worked in the slot tech department as a college graduate with a bachelor's degree at a top university in a tech related domain. The job (slot tech trainee) is a mechanical job that requires no advanced degree at most casinos. However, as a trainee, they specifically wanted me to get an associate's degree in electrical engineering. However, after speaking to other trainees, they gave different requirements although...

I worked at Seneca Resorts & Casinos for more than 3 years

    Pros

They pay you alot to be abused

    Cons

Executive management is in over their head. The inmates run the asylum and management is not allowed to act on it. Personal friendships Trump professional growth and unless you're a Seneca you're nothing but a minority.

    Advice to Management

Get someone that knows how to run the place and that's not afraid of the employees. The executive staff had no clue what is going on and there are constant complaints from across the street about the level of service from parts of the SOB. The place makes so much money they can afford to make mistakes and don't care about the ones that suffer daily in the casino. I refuse to call for any IT help because the helpdesk...
