    Pros

Coworkers are nice for the most part and the residents are a Joy to serve.

    Cons

kitchen management and supervisors are awful! No training and knowledge as to scheduling and it shows. No professionalism when it comes to meetings and how to handle situations with employees. Paychecks are not accurate which is very frustrating. Seevers do not get tips and do alot and have to deal with alot from bad management. The supervisors act like this is a career job for everyone all because it is for them and demand employees to work past the hours they said and schedule them on days they cannot work anyway.

    Advice to Management

Hire NEW KITCHEN MANAGEMENT THAT HAS BEEN PROFESIONALLY TRAINED FOR THE JOB WITH A EDUCATION!!! Increase the servers pay to atleat 11hl hourly. Cashiers at Target make more than that!

I worked at Senior Lifestyle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Residents are the only pros and paid time off.

    Cons

Terrible insurance that didn't cover even what was required by government and too expensive for what was covered. Management trying to tell you that you wouldn't get paid out accumulated vacation time after you gave 2 week notice which is illegal. No incentives. Management didn't keep track of call ins etc. No room for advancement . Discrimination towards women. Favoritism toward certain staff. A lot of broken promises. Backstabbing and unproffesionalism from management. People rehired after fired . Staff who quit 2 or 3 times rehired. Of all the years I worked for Slc and the companies before they took over the last few years were the worst.

    Advice to Management

Follow your own values. Listen to staff especially the long term ones and treat them better. Offer incentives. Give raises based off performance. Treat staff better.

    Pros

The facility was close to home

    Cons

They never notified me about my eligibility for insurance so when I called it was past my date even though I had not reached my 90 days. I also got moved around to different positions and was promised others then threaten to either quit or take a night position.

    Advice to Management

    Needed better management

Great working with residents. Different everyday, always something to do and to learn about.

I have been working at Senior Lifestyle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The residents. Some of the care staff. The hours. The ability to work over time. Starting pay is decent for a caregiving job.

    Cons

The pay for employees who have been there for years are making way less than the new hires. To get a raise in that place is like pulling teeth. Some management don't value the staff. Staff on staff drama. Some of the staff act like little kids and run to tattle on every little thing. There isn't a lot of team work, same workers picking up extra shifts so the residents are cared for. While others don't bother to help out at all. Turn over rate has been high in the last few months. Phone calls/texts all hours of the day into the night to pick up hours because someone didn't show up or is sick. Management playing favorites, they get certain perks. Seniority only counts when management want it to.

    Advice to Management

Start treating employees who have been there for years a little better. They are the ones who are there through thick and thin. Caregivers are your front lines to the residents. Some caregivers have a passion to be with the residents. While others are there for a paycheck, get rid of those people. Become a team again, that has been lost recently. Stop the drama with workers. If someone comes to you and tells you an on going issue with another worker (ie slander, name calling, lying about the job someone has done on their shift) take care of it. We are adults and shouldn't be bullied at our work place. Make time for your workers, be involved with them. Sometimes they just need an ear and 5 minutes of your time. Do not make it seem like a chore.
