    Pros

Flexible with time off, CRM is very organized and meant to help with workflow. Solid team of hard-working individuals.

    Cons

Not very much structure in terms of management. Both in upper level and direct level, hard to approach management with issues, and changes take FOREVER to implement.

    Advice to Management

Be quicker with operations needs, and more transparent to this team when it comes to new products and services. How about a training a week or two before new products launch, and not the week of? Just a thought.

    Pros

ok work while you're there - pretty standard workplace environment.

    Cons

Long time employees pull all the strings and no one does anything about it. Just look at the stock history to see how well they're doing. There are no new ideas coming out of this place - your only hope is they get bought out and the new company decides to keep you.

    Advice to Management

    Find a good buyer

    Pros

Great coworkers that are passionate about their work. Lots of cutting edge technology and equipment. Expanding company that is growing quickly.

    Cons

Processes and scheduling changes with little notice. Employees are often unprepared for the continuous changes. Many people are overworked because of wearing too many hats.

    Pros

Cutting edge technology and very intelligent and forward thinking group of scientists.

    Cons

Timelines are extremely tight, then get pushed out when upper management realizes that the timeline was never acheivable in the first place.

    Pros

Hours are good if you set boundaries and stick to them-other wise they will take advantage of your time. Lots of free food.

    Cons

Management is severely lacking interpersonal relationship skills. Employees are not recognized for their accomplishments within the company. The overall moral is grim and fading.

    Advice to Management

Send your managers to management classes that teach them how to positively encourage their employees to succeed.

    I worked at Sequenom full-time

    Pros

Great science. Really, genuinely nice people to work with in all departments. Benefits are solid and salaries tend to be on the high side. Location is easy to commute to.

    Cons

Promotions are hard to come by. People management is not a priority for the company, and some managers have very poor people skills. No 401(k) match.

    Advice to Management

Get a vision and communicate it.

I worked at Sequenom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, compensation, good holiday schedule, pretty offices.

Smart engineering/scientific types are abundant. People get to wear many hats making them even more proficient and productive.

I learned a lot, mostly by teaching myself.

    Cons

Management was inconsistent. Department heads do not listen to employees, push for an exponential amount of tasks to be completed with little lead time and a tighter, unrealistic deadline. Knee jerk reactions by upper mgmt would cause delays in meeting shipping orders.

Micro-management was unhealthy and anti-productive. Some departments seem to have a nice vibe amongst the employees. I envied that since my department was dysfunctional, too much Type A delusion of grandeur.

I didn't learn anything from mgmt related to my job. I only learned how not to treat people through observation.

    Advice to Management

Really take into account peer reviews of your upper management.
