I have been working at Sequoia Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive compensation, great benefits, and an owner that cares.

    Cons

Majority of employees work at a client's site so there isn't much interaction with other employees.

I have been working at Sequoia Consulting Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

From day 1, Sequoia consulting made me feel like family. The environment caters to self-starters who are interested in growing professionally, and learning from a large pool of talented individuals. There are incredible training opportunities, internal symposiums and a "yes!" attitude to pursuing your career goals, whatever that may be. Through this opportunity, I have found both mentors and friends.

    Cons

Being a consultant stationed at a client's office means I don't get to see my consulting colleagues often, and sometimes feel disconnected from the home office.

    Pros

Sequoia is a great place to work if you're interested in learning, broadening your skills and knowledge base, expanding your network in the life sciences, and advancing your career. Joining the Sequoia team of over 100 employees means you are immediately tapped into some of the smartest and most accomplished life sciences professionals, and you're able to leverage this network/expertise on customer projects. The expectations of Sequoia, and their clients, are a high performing, eager, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic individuals with a strong work ethic. If you come to the table with these basic attributes, you have a very high likelihood of being very successful at Sequoia.

Being a part of a team like Sequoia means getting to leverage your knowledge and skills on a variety of projects and in a variety of different company environments. It's great for people who like to always learn and challenge themselves to grow in their field.

Work life balance at Sequoia is Excellent. The management at Sequoia treats each of the employees very well and wants what is best for them and their families. There are plenty of great opportunities to network with peers through team happy hours, annual company events and parties, and many educational/training events throughout the year.

    Cons

If you have trouble working independently, you may have difficulty at certain client sites where you could be the only Sequoia employee working with a client team. At other client sites, however there may be 10-20 Sequoia employees working together.

If you are not self-motivated and project oriented, you may have trouble on certain projects. Sometimes a client will outline expectations for deliverables on a project, but will expect you to know how to get it done. This is not such a problem though because even if you hit a snag, you have a network of colleagues at Sequoia to lean on for help.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Sequoia Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone I've worked with at Sequoia has been wonderful - smart and friendly but still very humble and down to earth. The CEO, Brandy, is awesome, and leadership goes out of its way to take care of employees - great pay, benefits package, work opportunities, work life balance, and frequent company events to bring the team together. Sequoia has a start-up feel despite the team growing, with management open to everyone's suggestions when it comes to things that can be improved. Also love that Sequoia gives back to the local community and works with multiple charities every year.

    Cons

401k match would be nice, but understand it's difficult at this stage.

    Advice to Management

Keep growing the team without losing the small company feel.

    Pros

The culture at Sequoia is truly fantastic. The leadership makes you feel welcomed and appreciated. They provide frequent communications through town hall meetings across all client sites, and the resource management team works hard to ensure a smooth transition into your roles. Leadership team works hard to keep the pipeline full and the Sequoia clients coming back for more.

    Cons

Rapidly growing so the usual stuff of figuring out best benefits, etc. Benefits, BTW, look great for 2019.

    Advice to Management

Keep it going. Great culture and expectations are clear

I have been working at Sequoia Consulting Group full-time

    Pros

Sometimes, consulting can feel like a mercenary existence. Sequoia offers as much opportunity to develop and work on significant projects as one can hope for, but it also offers a network of support and camaraderie that is rare for consultants.
Sequoia does a great job of finding projects for its employees. When a project at one client wraps up, you aren't left on your own; there is a whole team of people working to find another strong match for your skills.
The company has grown quickly and has an established California presence with industry leaders in the life sciences.

    Cons

Sequoia has grown rapidly - as it matures, it would be nice to see some things like a match to the 401k and a more robust merit bonus/ annual review process.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the focus on community and employees as Sequoia grows, and you will continue to attract excellent talent! You have something really special going.

    Pros

Awesome CEO, great clients, solid reputation in the industry in San Diego

    Cons

Company culture/sense of togetherness is difficult to maintain with consultants spread out across many sites and no "home office"

    Advice to Management

Continue to prioritize enrichment and social events to get the consultants together

I have been working at Sequoia Consulting Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I feel like Sequoia genuinely tries to care about the success and growth of employees. It's a pretty flat line company structure so you are able to take responsibility and have independence over your own work. The work has been pretty interesting and challenging so far. Previously coming from working with a manager who cared less about their employees, it's refreshing to feel supported and like you're a part of a team.

    Cons

No cons at this point but as a consultant, you're constantly at a client site so its really up to you to be as involved as you want to be. I can see where this type of role isn't necessarily for everyone out there.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work Brandy!

    Pros

Flexibility - Using my skill set I am able to contract with different companies.
Pay - I am paid extremely WELL!
Continue to build and strengthen my network by working with some of the top Biotech's in CA.
Avoid the "corporate politics" by being a Consultant.
Growing our company - lots of new clients.

    Cons

401(k) match. Being a small "start up", matching is not yet available.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!
