Cover so many different business styles as an outsource contract supplier that it makes it harder to understand the individual business needs

I worked at Serco Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Serco is a trusted company but the job is not guaranteed only until they have the contract. So, only work as a contractor. Work environment is good, groups collaborating with each other.

    Cons

Sometimes long working hours. Pay is not good, below average, no overtime paid, no bonuses. Management is sometimes chaotic, no budget for trainings.

    Advice to Management

Reward high performing employees and treat them better.

I worked at Serco Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a whole the team I was surrounded by was excellent, very supportive and easy to get a long with. Senior management were very inconsistent and generally quite difficult.

    Cons

The company size left their very little feel of culture or value as an employee. Progression was limited and staff turnover very high. Training on offer was average in terms of frequency and delivery.

    Advice to Management

invest more in building team feel and communications channels between hierarchical tiers. Offer more support and opportunities for progression elsewhere in the business.

I have been working at Serco Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The customers in the business . The contracts are the bread and butter of this company. Team work is good at lower levels

    Cons

The shared service is not working and is getting worse. The new directors are not working for the good of the company they are completely self centred

    Advice to Management

Review the shared service centre. Are the payroll team really experts! How many directors are required in one area and how much is it costing

Good environment where I worked as a contractor, good work colleagues.

    Cons

Poor management, no salary rises or bonuses, Serco manager was impossible to reach

    Advice to Management

Be approachable and reward your employees for good work, it might encourage them to stay longer.

I worked at Serco Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working as a patent classifier in Harrisonburg, Virginia the people were very friendly, the hours were flexible, and the on the job training was quite robust.

    Cons

While work hours were flexible as to when you could come in/leave, there was mandatory overtime that each of the centers had to work and it was sometimes difficult to get time off over the holidays. There was also little to no room for growth/management opportunities.
