I have been working at Service Corporation International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall easy going and positive corporate work environment, nice office location, paid maternity leave

    Cons

Below market and stagnant pay, 2-3% raises with no bonuses. Very discouraging when the company seems to be doing very well and the CEO takes home a 5 million dollar bonus (public info as a publicly traded company). Health insurance is expensive and only partially covered by the company, fewer holidays than most other large companies, old school management not open to telecommuting, depressing and outdated office decor, many fulltime coworkers have 2nd jobs to make ends meet

    Advice to Management

Value your employees or they will jump ship as soon as a better offer is available. Constantly losing knowledge and expertise because the company pays notoriously low outside of high management positions (constantly complained about by employees and known throughout the recruiting industry). Even managers have cited low pay as reasons for leaving.

    Pros

good environment to work with the upper management, really organized and good benefits and mentor ship from senior managers

    Cons

unfortunately, you have to work with sales "managers" who don't have the minimum administrative skills to be able to run their team, therefore creating a lot of thing to fall through the cracks such as not calling candidates back, forgetting to process a new hire's on board and things of that nature.
another thing is that the turnover is terrible and its one of the big challenges because they only hires sales professional on commission, not only that, if yo manage to find a good candidate who likes commission, it might be a big chance that the management will drive the new hire away due to the the lack of respect and unprofessional ways most of the managers behave.

    Advice to Management

do a clean up on the sales managers and be really careful who do you offer the position, as sales recruiter i witnessed a lot of sales directors making wrong decisions about hiring/promoting employees.
remember, just becuase a person is a good sales professional, it doesn't mean that that person is management material.

one last thing, if the company pays sales professional a decent hourly/salary wage, the turn over will decline dramatically.
they currently spend million of dollars a year on turnover cost (backgrounds, drug screens, salaries for recruiters, etc)
