    Pros

Good benefits, insurance is lacking. As someone once told me, if you want to learn how to direct in a fast paced atmosphere, this is the place.

    Cons

Absolutely the worst possible "management" on the planet, from the ground up it is corrupt. Lies, backstabbing, gossip, politics, political correctness, racism, reverse-racism, gouging the customer in their time of grief, meeting quotas, trying to do the same thing in every market regardless of whether it works or not, total and complete lack of concern for the client in their time of grief...in effect, everything they say in their manual they don't do or won't allow is situational per person, location, etc. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WORK FOR THIS COMPANY! TRUST ME, THERE IS SOMETHING BETTER! TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK IN LOOKING FOR A POSITION, YOU CAN DO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS.

    Advice to Management

Wake the hell up! None of you have a clue what you're doing. It's all about meeting your quotas regardless of the cost to your staff and clients. No ethics, no morals, no management. From management to HR to legal, you are all corrupt. There are simply no words to express the levels you will stoop to. I did my research before accepting my position and thought "it can't be that bad"! Read the reviews on every job search website, SCI is all of that AND MORE!

I worked at Service Corporation International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice coworkers, and zero requirement to be intelligent.

    Cons

Trapped between trying to do the right thing by customers and/or employees, and trying to earn a living.

    Advice to Management

Your company's iron clad grip on the funerary industry is vulnerable to a disruption model. Sure, you could just buy the disruption model out, but you could more easily hire savvy business people into management rather than used car salesmen and avoid this altogether.

Get rid of the dinosaurs that are earning a fantastic living while doing absolutely nothing to earn it, advance profitability, improve and grow brand image, or even build a market beyond where it sits presently. Loyalty is great, but when preserving a 20-30 year employee in a market leadership role who is simply retired on duty,,, you burn and lose generations of truly quality management that could replace them and do far far better for you.

I have been working at Service Corporation International part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Nothing immediately comes to mind. Benefits are pretty good. Free lunch on occasion. Enjoy helping customers who come in needing help planning funerals for their loved ones.

    Cons

Employees gossip about one another, no cohesiveness and they are disrespectful to each other. Very toxic environment. Job responsibilities are not balanced correctly.

    Advice to Management

Stop always looking at the bottom line. Get new management on local level who will set a standard of not only getting more involved in the community, but also building a better team. Once that is done you will notice that if you pay people a more fair wage and the turnover will decrease.
