    I have been working at Seton Healthcare Family full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Provides care for all people even if uninsured

    Cons

    Low pay does not reflect cost of living in Austin; starting salary is higher in Uvalde, TX!
    Always understaffed, patient care suffers b/c you are always running from one room to the next, no time to really talk with patients or families; Never get to eat a proper lunch;
    Incompetent managers; Managers berate and use fear and negative reinforcement instead of inspiring employees to reach goals;

    Advice to Management

    Take some courses in leadership, discover the difference between a leader and a manager; help us out when we get slammed; relieve us for lunch once in a while; make sure HUMANCARE includes the staff

    Pros

    They do offer self-scheduling and flexibility

    Cons

    The nursing staff in my department is continually under-staffed and over-worked. The compensation is below average.

    Advice to Management

    Start staffing your departments appropriately for the sake of the patients and your employees!! A little respect please...
