    Pros

Presence throughout the community, non-profit with a mission to help those in need, great patients, reasonable pay, generally high caliber of fellow social workers, physicians, nurses, and staff

    Cons

Management is hit or miss; struggles with keeping culture now that they have joined Ascension; keeping enough prn staff to help full-time staff; high burn out rate

    Advice to Management

Hire more PRN staff to help full-time staff when they need coverage, create more career progression paths for social workers

I have been working at Seton Healthcare Family full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good work-life balance. My department was taken over by 3rd party. Good team size. Working together amongst different departments. Co-workers were great.

    Cons

My department was taken over by 3rd party. It was all about money. Laid off a lot of employees. Those that were spared had little to no communication.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

    Pros

    Originally had good teamwork atmostphere

    Cons

    Loss of teamwork attitude
    Micromanaging by management
    senseless directives by corporate

    Advice to Management

Left Seton- Austin last year. Very frustrated with the direction they were taking. Ascension takeover brought senseless changes. Mandatory attendance at DAILY meetings is waste of valuable time. 99.9% of the meetings did not apply to my work area. It meant standing around for 30-45 minutes just to hear 2 min. of relevant info. Then management complains about turnaround times and overtime. It all focused on charts and ratios. Understaffing was no excuse. Just began to feel like constant criticism and no encouragement (Pizza "parties" are NOT encouraging - just patronizing)

    Pros

Relationships with coworkers are solid, Teamwork is good

    Cons

Seton/Ascension Health are extreme in cost saving to the detriment of their facilities. Equipment is old/broken, the hospital appears disorganized Hospital remodels/upgrades are embarrassing. A Band-Aid doesn't work. The facility falls short in comparison to the other 5 hospitals I have worked in that were either city-owned or HCA hospitals.

    Pros

Co-workers truly care about the health of the patient and work hard to ensure that they are well-cared for and have the best possible outcomes.

    Cons

Recent layoffs have made it harder to get things done in an efficient manor. Low pay, low opportunities for advancement and pay increases. I often feel like I am not valued. I am just a number and easily replaceable.

I worked at Seton Healthcare Family full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people on the floors. The charge nurses and unit managers are very considerate and treat every employee with respect. When full time the retirement package is really nice as well.

    Cons

Can be deaf to some of the complaints of people on the floors. This mostly pertains to people higher in the organization. Whether staff or equipment shortages, the resolution would sometimes be slowed since non-clinical people would not heed the advice of those working on the wards.

    Advice to Management

    see above comment.
