I worked at Seton Healthcare Family full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people on the floors. The charge nurses and unit managers are very considerate and treat every employee with respect. When full time the retirement package is really nice as well.

    Cons

Can be deaf to some of the complaints of people on the floors. This mostly pertains to people higher in the organization. Whether staff or equipment shortages, the resolution would sometimes be slowed since non-clinical people would not heed the advice of those working on the wards.

    Advice to Management

    see above comment.

I worked at Seton Healthcare Family full-time

    Pros

Location, Benefits, flexibility, a job, the doctors

    Cons

Too many family members/friends getting hired and more pay for those of us that work our butts off everyday. The PBSRs make more than the CCMA and many of them do not have degrees. They also make more than some of the LVNS.

I worked at Seton Healthcare Family (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Those employees who have stayed thru the Ascension transition, are actually there because they want to be. Even though they are not valued, they want to care for the patients.

    Cons

Ascension has ruined Seton Family. Simply ruined it. They were a care-centric and employee-centric business before Ascensions Take Over. Now? They are disorganized, non-caring to employees who have tenure, turn a blind eye to every complaint and put out fires instead of preventative processes.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of Ascension. Listen and actually take care of your staff.

I worked at Seton Healthcare Family full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fast paced work environment, always something to keep you busy. Good benefits, competitive pay, and advancement opportunities. It felt like a family when I worked in the lab here!

    Cons

Poor communication from management and it takes hr a long time to post open positions causing departments to be short staffed.

    Advice to Management

    Communication improvements would help everyone.

    Pros

    Cons

Senior leadership lacked foresight and the company was not keeping up with what is needed to succeed in today's healthcare climate.

I have been working at Seton Healthcare Family full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent benefits, workers, flexible hours

    Cons

Poor leadership, no accountability for physicians. They are allowed tonact like children. Low pay!

    Advice to Management

Charity begins at home! Treat your employees better. Leaders need to lead and be more tranparent. Pay also needs to be re-evaluated. Cost of living is only getting higher in Austin, but our pay is not

I worked at Seton Healthcare Family full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Happy with pay, ability to work overtime if extra $ needed, management furnished lunch in the break room on busy days

    Cons

Ethics Committee at the time was a joke and decisions not aligned with Catholic Church. Hopefully no longer this way.

    Advice to Management

The mission statement needs to be redone (treating each person as Christ himself) as Seton misleads the public by representing themselves as always consistent with Catholic teachings. Management and administration, don't retaliate when a staff member calls you out on it.
