I worked at Shannon Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a plus to not have a long commute to and from work.

    Cons

The people have been in their positions as leaders and management for so long that they actually separate themselves from general working staff.

    Advice to Management

Loosen up. Get your hands dirty. Be a peer not su "peer" ior to all those around you.

I worked at Shannon Medical Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It is basically the only acute care hospital to work at in town. They have a lot of the local healthcare jobs. Pay scale could be better.

    Cons

Very controlling environment, bullies, not a pleasant place to work. Management is stagnant and has been in power much too long. Need to clean out management and get new people with in those positions with new ideas and open minds.

    Advice to Management

Need to be open minded, stop trying to control everything and everyone

I worked at Shannon Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

M-F 8-5 Physicians were good to me and good to work for.

    Cons

Terrible benefits, administration gets more wrapped up in the big wheeling and new growth and do not see the value of the day to day employees and their morale.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to use more common sense decision making. They would do well to compensate their good employees better.

I have been working at Shannon Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits and friendly nursing staff. I never feel like I have to look very far to get help when I need help.

    Cons

middle and upper management need to take into consideration that nurses... are human. And when enough people have a complaint about a specific member of MGMT - that means there's a problem.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to your staff.

  8. "Contradictory"

    Pros

In area, one of the only hospitals that someone in the medical field can learn alot from. Not-for-profit.

    Cons

Very little room to grow. Those in management positions need to remember that they work along side HUMAN BEINGS. Remember the purpose of our role is to care for people. Money doesn't mean everything. In some areas of this facility there are prejudice people embedded. Discrimatory actions from these people embedded, ( especially in management) tells alot about the morale of the facility as a whole. Profits in specialized areas are more important than ordinary things always, right? No.
I should be said as it's necessary!

    Advice to Management

Bite the bullet and clean house, some of those in positions that they're qualified for!

    Cons

Very fast paced. Lots of tasks needed to accomplish.
