I worked at Shannon Medical Center full-time

    Pros

The culture and sense of family.

    Cons

Of course there are bad seeds in every organization. I think this organization is trying to change to fast without proper investment.

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to your employees issues and follow through with current plans.

I have been working at Shannon Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits and friendly nursing staff. I never feel like I have to look very far to get help when I need help.

    Cons

middle and upper management need to take into consideration that nurses... are human. And when enough people have a complaint about a specific member of MGMT - that means there's a problem.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to your staff.

I have been working at Shannon Medical Center (Less than a year)

    Pros

The opportunities to learn are great. .

    Cons

However, they are so understaffed and that makes it hard for people to ask off. Lot of complaints from the lack of coverage by the workers. I was a float and the problem was everywhere, not just a specific location

    Advice to Management

Improve the float pool and work on increasing employee retention.

I worked at Shannon Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

M-F 8-5 Physicians were good to me and good to work for.

    Cons

Terrible benefits, administration gets more wrapped up in the big wheeling and new growth and do not see the value of the day to day employees and their morale.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to use more common sense decision making. They would do well to compensate their good employees better.

    Pros

The people that work here care about what they do here. They are passionate and strive for the best patient care.

    Cons

One might perceive nepotism, as San Angelo is a larger town with a small town vibe.

    Pros

most of staff care and are very good to work with.

    Cons

many times unsafe and the way management overlooks serious flaws and is clueless or indifferent to serious issues raised by staff.

    Advice to Management

got off your collective " brains' and become proactive and not float through your days just collecting a paycheck.
