I have been working at ShareThis full-time

    Pros

    - great team, the people here are fantastic to work with
    - work/life balance, a lot of flexibility when life doesn't go your way (which happens to everyone from time to time, i.e. doctors appt, etc)
    - competitive compensation, speaks for itself

Overall: There definitely was a time when I felt a bit lost in what exactly the company was trying to do in the past few years but recent changes and the addition of some new senior leadership has really convinced me of the company's new vision and goal.

    Cons

    - transition from adtech to a data-as-a-service was rocky
    - culture is more mature than a typical startup

    Advice to Management

None - they seem to know what they're doing

    2. People are talented and very friendly
    3. Have a super good sales and marketing team
    4. A lot of transparency
    5. Challenging problems to solve

    Cons

Difficult to grow in Adtech industry

I worked at ShareThis (Less than a year)

    Pros

you will get experience with the latest tech stack: kubernetes, aws, meteor, kafka, guice
    free food monday - thursday
    quarterly hackathon
nice social spaces to work in, friendly co-workers

    Cons

no career path, 1 on 1 sessions not useful
way too much old infrastructure debt which makes it difficult to deliver new features
the company tried to develop an adtech rtb platform but failed, its now trying to work directly with publishers
focus is on 'fast' iterations using existing tools, code quality is an afterthought.
leadership is scared that learning new frameworks, languages will lead to 'context switch'
insurance premiums are higher than most and quality is not the best, vision plan only covers frames every 2 years.
    no 401k matching
'unlimited' vacation as opposed to accrual
current months okrs have no relation to the ones from the previous month
high engineering turnover (most people dont stay more than a year)

    Advice to Management

hire better tech leads (people who know to use the unix command line)
dont mix roles of tech leadership with engineering management
hire faster (teams need to scale quickly )

    Pros

I loved working at ShareThis and I miss it! Sometime I feel like I should go back! It is one of the few companies, which has sense of team and helped each other out to be successful. Engineering team was one of the best teams, who loved solving tough problems.

    Bonus points:
    Nice office space
Catered lunch on Monday Wednesday & Thursday.

    Cons

When i was there on 2014, they were just starting with mobile.

    Pros

The flexibility to experiment new ideas and approach is something I look forward everyday at work. The environment is user-friendly. We can reach anyone in no time. They always find time for you! Working under Dr. Yan is a great experience, as she is transparent in her communication and most importantly she is open to discussions and motivates to try new approaches in solving the problem at hand.
HR Team is very helpful right from the beginning of my interview, on-boarding process, as well as on any personal-level guidance.

As a startup, there were few changes in the overall organization, mainly to focus on one goal and work towards that. Moreover, the reasoning behind the decision was clearly conveyed to us.

    Cons

I have nothing in particular. If I may have any in the future, I can directly provide my suggestions to the team :) The team is open-minded and welcomes feedback.

    Pros

We have an amazing group of people at ShareThis who make me excited to come to work everyday. We work hard because we are a small team so you get to do and learn a lot! There is a great opportunity for growth! There is also a lot of visibility here which is nice because I feel appreciated and recognized for the work I do and effort I put into things not just by my manager but from the team. We have a great executive and management team. They are passionate and approachable if you have questions or want feedback or just want to chat. We have good perks and benefits as well as a wonderful team culture!

    Cons

Like every start-up, there are times of change. It's hard on the company and on morale but it is part of the start-up lifecycle. We have offices in Palo Alto, NY, SF, and Chicago. We do our best with technology (i.e. Google Hangouts) but there is still the challenge of interacting with everyone in the company.

Good benefits and pay but cons far outweigh the pros.

    Pros

A lot of smart people who are fun to be around. The company is working on complex big data issues and developing innovative ad products. Has a large set of proprietary data assets.

    Cons

It has taken the company a long time and many iterations to only begin to truly leverage its data assets. Too many "me too" products that are hard to separate in a crowded ad tech market.

    Advice to Management

Create more accountability across the organization.

I have been working at ShareThis full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working at ShareThis is like being a part of a family that cares about you. Everyone on the management team has families, and respects your time with yours. The company is doing great things and has an amazing future ahead. I've never been so happy in a job before.

    Cons

There are offices in NYC, LA, Chicago, San Francisco, and Palo Alto. The company pretty small to have so many offices, so it takes a little more effort to build relationships across the company.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the awesome going!

I have been working at ShareThis full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Outstanding engineering management , cool perks, large parking lot, amazing work/life balance, freedom to choose technologies, no deadline pressure, telecommute when you need it, very flexible vacation policy. People are kind and always ready to help.

    Cons

Domain-specific knowledge needed, you have to learn constantly as things change. Technical debt keeps growing.

    Advice to Management

Keep going! It's time to start paying of the tech debts.
