I have been working at Sharp HealthCare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Schedule, No weekends, Location, Work hours,

    Cons

short staffed, specialties coverage is lacking, work load vs pay, pay

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the hardworking staff and acknowledge their concerns versus think they are merely complaining. If you don't take their concerns seriously it doesn't show you care for their input and want to make their work environment a better place by addressing their concerns.

    Pros

Great coworkers, health benefits, and salary

    Cons

Very hostile manager who bullies the staff. Overall negative work environment due to poor management. Upper management unfortunately turns a blind eye to the high turn over and complaints in this department.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees concerns regarding bullying in the workplace. Realize when morale is low and do something about the hostile manager.

    Pros

Very good benefits. Awesome coworkers. Excellent hospital system.

    Cons

Some of the medical groups are very poorly managed. Lot of discord, turnover and backbiting behavior. Lot of people in middle-management who have no business in these positions because they do not know what they are doing.

I worked at Sharp HealthCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay, matching retirement. Patients were great and appreciated me.

    Cons

Management at Home Health on Daggett Street in San Diego is sooooooooooo unbearingly, ridiculously horrible. I MEAN GUT-WRENCHINGLY HORRIBLE. THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES AND their talent OFFER ZERO support. They will eat you alive. They will blame you for every single thing you do, they do or other clinicians do or even for what patients lie and tell them. This job will ruin your self-esteem, put your license in jeopardy, make you depressed and take up all of your free time. They love the manipulation and the corporate blame GAMES. MANAGEMEMT IS THE VERY W0RST I'VE EVERY SEEN. DON'T DO IT. The computer program they have is ancient. The amount of time it takes to charge is double what it is in other agencies for home health. They will count every moment you are sick, and nickel and dime you about your PTO time. They will force you to work overtime. All of this is against every labor law in the country and I highly recommend that you do not apply to this place.

    Advice to Management

Please start paying attention to the feelings, needs and opinions of your workers. It seems that it pains you to lift a finger to help your teams. I would not recommend this place to anybody I know. It's the worst place I've ever worked in my life and I can't imagine recommending it to anybody. Open your door and let people speak. Take what they have and help them have a better work experience.

I have been working at Sharp HealthCare part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

SHARP does offer pretty decent benefits, even for part time employees. Its a clean environment and offer a good experience for patients and visitors.

    Cons

Although the benefits are good, SHARP has many internal problems. Nurses have threatened several times to go on strike for higher pay. The turn over rate is horrible. Nurses come here to gain experience and then move to other healthcare facilities such as Kaiser or Scrips because the pay is better. and I honestly don't blame them. Departments don't communicate effectively, and only focus on their department when it comes to helping out.

    Advice to Management

Work on internal communication when it comes to all departments and better communication with your staff.

I worked at Sharp HealthCare full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed the team environment. The main reason I stayed in my former position so long was because I liked my coworkers. There was a strong referral network and the majority of the doctors were friendly and competent. I liked that Sharp is typically on the cutting edge with technology tool

    Cons

The pay scale compared to other facilities is low. I eventually left for a higher paying job at Scripps. They also require a lot more re-education and re-certification courses than many other hospital systems.

    Advice to Management

Reward employees for a job well done and pay them competitively. Do not require a safe patient mobilization class every year that is 4 hours long.

Sharp Mesa Vista as a per diem therapist is a great place to work. Flexibility, structure, great learning opportunities, clean environment
