I worked at Shaw Communications full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pretty simple interview. Very low requirements to a candidate. It's enough to know some basic network troubleshooting stuff and be able to communicate with people.
Comprehensive training and guidance provided by experienced guys. Although it may be hard when you actually start taking calls and dealing with real-life issues, but support is always there to help. They are very always friendly and knowledgeable.
If you feel you lack some specific knowledge, you may ask for additional tutoring.
Bonuses are very good, and start working while you are still in training.
    Work/life balance is good too.
    Free coffee/tee/milk )
All in all, a perfect place for a start. Would definitely recommend it to those who have just finished school or immigrated.

    Cons

Night shifts for at least 6 months (this may be an upside though, especially if you study or have another job to do).
No buses on weekends (especially Sunday) and at night. Make friends with your training group-mates who drive a car ))) or buy a bicycle.
High staff turnover. People come and go every week.
If you are planning to continue on a better position (IT, Engineering) then you have to move to Calgary or find another company.
Underpaid for a stressful kind of job it is.

I worked at Shaw Communications (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and good commission structure

    Cons

I've worked at Shaw for over 3 years and have seen the department go thru a lot of changes. Before it used to be an amazing place to work. But now it's a train wreak. The management is the reason why customer solutions (I.e. outbound sales) is considered to be the high school of cse. The Work politics in this department lead to people going on stress leave or quit. The turnover rate is huge and we aren't treated like valued employees. Go to any other department at Shaw and you will know how amazing this company is, but if you go to customer solutions Winnipeg, it's almost like suicide these days. Management needs to change entirely and bring in people who actually care for their job and the company's name.

    Advice to Management

Change Winnipeg cse by hiring leaders who are passionate about their job and want to help others succeed. The atmosphere is demotivating and the department leaders need to be investigated because there's a lot of things such as false accounts, no actual unified desktop experience, leaders having sex with their emolyees so that the employee avoids politics and moves up in Shaw and several other things happening behind closed doors.

I have been working at Shaw Communications part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Shaw has been great right from the start. The training was 6 weeks and very intense, but our trainer made it always fun and pleasant. You get all the support you need to be successful at your job. Their are always opportunities to take more skills classes/workshops and you have the possibility to go into different departments.

    Cons

the location is very hard to get to if you have no care. you have to be able to work shifts and on the weekends. You should have your own car.

    Advice to Management

Better accommodation regarding people that have no car or drivers license and have to take the bus. Sometimes there are no buses running, no one of your colleagues lives in the same neighborhood but you still have to get home! Cab rides can get very expensive especially when you have to take a cab 4 or 5 times a week! But there should at least a partial compensation but most of all understanding for that.

I worked at Shaw Communications part-time

    Pros

Great pay and fantastic work environment. Supportive staff and always willing to help. Cafeteria and snacks available as well as free coffee and tea

    Cons

Very structured and sometimes the management can be a little strict. They pushed commission into a technical support role as well which caused

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to focus on their roles and lessen the push of commission. It's a great way to generate revenue for the company but stresses out the employees
