I worked at Shaw Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Strong family atmosphere, very collaborative group. Not too top heavy (management) and everyone works together as a team. You could just as easily confer with a customer service agent one minute and a vice president the next. Loved the head office being downtown, as easy commute. Building renovations resulted in a beautiful, green work-space, with all considerations taken into account.

    Cons

Lost my job in a re-structure of the company, which they like to do every 2 years or so. Usually quiet about it. Some opportunities for movement, but you can get 'stuck' in a position. Don't like to coach supervisor or management skills until you are a supervisor or manager, which does not aide in advancing.

    Advice to Management

Encourage junior level staff to participate (and let them) in skills building, such as supervisor or management training. Makes for a stronger, more engaged work force.
