    Pros

Good benefits from the start. Commission from day one, very extensive training program. Family like company if you get in with the right people.

    Cons

Not sure what they measure success with. Can change your territory in an instant. Could be located in a bad sales region.

I worked at Shaw Industries full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company for work life balance, and this company invest in you. They really help you grow! Job security was a benifit as well. They don't really fire people. Even if they want to fire you, they generally will not if you make a big enough protest.

    Cons

They cover their path to advancment in a coat of meritcracy, but in reality they promote based on nepotism.

    Advice to Management

    1. Reduce the role of Human resources in management decesions. They run your company.
    2. Make OMT's become supervisors before they are process engineers. They have a difficult time communicating and managing people if they skip this step.
    3. Try to promote people that put in the time and work. If they are capable promote them. I know this is hard, but make a great effort.

I worked at Shaw Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Depending on background most people work for years (job security)

    Cons

In paper Shaw promotes equal employment opportunity for all regardless of background but as a person of color it is very difficult to be given an opportunity to grow. Most people of color end up assuming the same role for years without being given a chance to advance their career. Racism is real and the leaders have no clue or turn a blind eye to it.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be a culture change. People of color do deserve a chance to grow and advance.

I worked at Shaw Industries full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    pay and meeting some people

    Cons

Some jobs pay large amounts of money per hour for sitting on your but half of the time, while other jobs work your but off for much less pay. There is hardly no appreciation for hourly employees. If you are for the right football team or are related to the right people or go to the right school or church you will be appreciated more. Ability to do the job is not much of a factor for getting a job. So often the people that are always complaining about others to make themselves look better seem to get things their way just to make them hush. Good hard working people are overlooked and are ask to do so much more because management knows they can depend on them. After a while the hard working employees notice that the slackers are getting paid the same to do much less work. So, it becomes like a virus and they have caught on to the same pay - less work employee theory that works in Andalusia.Start treating

    Advice to Management

I won't bother to give any advice. Upper management never cares to sincerely listen.
