I have been working at Shaw Industries full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

7 days off in a row. some supervisors are ok

    Cons

shift work, swing shift, underpaid, unappreciated, insurance is a joke! they don't listen to how the employees feel. no consistent accountability for those that do not do their jobs correctly. no copay for insurance, you have to pay deductible up front

    Advice to Management

get everybody on the same page across the house. don't be afraid to terminate those who do not perform to Shaw's supposedly high standard. go back to making the trainees start at a lower pay and work their way up to top pay. If they start out at the top they have no initiative to give their all and improve. why should they? they already make top pay..

I have been working at Shaw Industries (More than a year)

    Pros

The people you work with our great. Shaw spends a lot of time helping you become a better employee by offering training classes. The benefits are what you would expect. The culture at Shaw and the value we place on individuals is what sets it apart from anywhere else. I started off interning with them for the past two years and have taken the next step with them after graduation. It has been a joy and I have even had the opportunity to sit in a roundtable discussion with Vance Bell.

    Cons

The only con I could think of would be the heat in the summer. It is a manufacturing environment so it is unavoidable. The Plants do many things though to help offset this with popsicles, water, and cool towels. The heat usually just last a week.

    Advice to Management

You are doing a good job so keep up the good work.

I have been working at Shaw Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Shaw gives training to their IS employees for current and future system that we will work with on a day to day basis.

Opportunity to play with new systems.

    Cons

Management is rude and does not provide good direction for employees. There have been many times that management will go on a "rampage" over a small thing that does not pertain to a problem for IS.

No room for advancement in furthering your career.

    Advice to Management

Search for new management and learn to build morale, not destroy it.

    Pros

Shaw takes care of their higher management but not so much for production operators and hourly employees which creates poor moral.

    Cons

    No rwspect for hourly employees.

    Advice to Management

Treat your hourly employees with respect.

The most employee-friendly company I have ever worked for. The work was not easy, but it was a great environment & management truly cared about the employees. If you are ever offered a job with Shaw, take it!
