I have been working at Shea Homes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employees are professional, nice to work with and the benefits are good.
Onsite there is a health club with a large swimming pool, a small market place as well as a full restaurant and there's also a spa.
The area is always neat and clean.
The job isn't hard, there's just a lot of work (which can make the day go by pretty fast).

    Cons

    Working weekends...EVERY weekend.
There needs to be some sort of rotation so that a social life is possible.
This part of the job is devastating and really wears on you after a while.

    Advice to Management

All sales staff should have some sort of weekend rotation, even if it's only one weekend a month.

    Pros

Very supportive management, great benefits and personal time off. Our management team supports our decisions and are only interested in our members, homeowners concerns. Well designed houses, well built by smart and driven Field Managers.

    Cons

Enough staffing to get the work completed, which means heavy work loads. Deadlines are moved up which increases stress in the field. Some projects are poorly planned and then implemented without much forethought.

I have been working at Shea Homes (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PTO benefits are generous.... if you get a chance to use them. Medical benefits are good as well.

    Cons

The lack of communication creates a need to do work three times, just in time, and stay overtime. Yet, no matter how dedicated or how well you perform your particular tasks, there is no opportunity for upward mobility. No opportunity for growth. No opportunity for higher pay based on higher levels of responsibility.

I have been working at Shea Homes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is the best group of people you could ever dream to work for and with! Everyday I'm excited to come to work because the work culture built like a family. From the top down, everyone is embraced and encouraged without the typical power driven egos most corporations tend to have.

    Cons

I've gained a couple pounds since working here because everyday unlimited snacks, sodas, and coffee are provided; and almost everyday someone brings in food for the whole office.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for being so down to earth and respectful to the people who work for you. Keep up the great work!

I worked at Shea Homes full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of really good people working for this company. Shea offers great benefits to their employees. Decent pay.

    Cons

No employee support and awful management. I often felt like management was too busy or not able to help. Lots of finger pointing and working with the design staff was like being in high school all over again.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time training employees so they are able to do their job with less pressure and stress.

    Pros

Great company! Some of my favorite things:
Managers are open to new ideas, and encourage them
I can walk into my boss' office if I ever have a question
    Everyone is friendly and caring
Ample PTO, the company is very family oriented
The customers are happy with their homes, it's always rewarding to work for a company that delivers well
Emphasis on building "homes", not "houses"

    Cons

The office is quiet, and its cold! wear your blazer :)

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Shea Homes full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great management and middle-to-upper salaries. Very straightforward culture. Anyone can succeed with hard work and a bit of luck.

    Cons

Ups and downs of homebuilding make stability a challenge sometimes. Not always able to get promoted in timely manner.

    Advice to Management

Hold fast to the great heritage of the Shea family business. Keep investing in FranklinCovey training because it really sets Shea apart from other cultures.
