I worked at Shealy Truck Center as a contractor
Friendly, family-owned business, great communication between departments, all managers are hands-on between departments, great sense of camaraderie among employees, a lot of growth within the company
As with any company that works with a high volume of customers among sales, parts, and service, the environment can feel slightly chaotic at times, but there are never any dull moments. This can definitely be a pro for someone who shines under pressure.
Management is almost absentee. Most of the co-workers are good, hard working folks. Family owners are very nice people, but a bit hard to communicate with. If you are a fixed ops employee (parts, service, rental) it will be a pretty typical employment experience.
Management is almost absentee. They do not have a grasp of the changes happening in the industry. So, decisions are made in a vacuum as they are mostly concerned with short-term issues. As a result, some folks continue employment that should go, and some folks go that should stay. Sales and marketing employees will likely be frustrated working at Shealy's.
Advice to Management
I think that Shealy's is going to have to determine if they want to continue the business, or sell it. If they wish to continue, investments are going to have to be made. I wish them the best.
