I have been working at Shearer's Foods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Many positive people in leadership. It's clear that they care about employees - even with their benefit package. I love working for a company where I can be proud of who we are and even see OUR products that we make at the grocery store or gas station. It's amazing to know how many different products that we make that I've been eating all along.

    Cons

I don't have any cons at this time. Great pay, great benefits and I can see that the company is growing.

    Advice to Management

Keep being open with communication to your employees.

    Cons

You will get fired for anything and this company is managed by RACISTS people if you are white you don't move up in the company only black people do!

    Advice to Management

They need to consider people of all races not just one color to advance in the company!

I worked at Shearer's Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The good pay an benefits are the only good things.

    Cons

They make rules up as they go to fit what they want in a situation. Never consist. All of managment starting from the HR thru supervisors spend more time trying to hook up with who they can. They hire supervisors who don't know anything about how the day to day operations work an the employee has to teach supervisor. They let to many people dictate a situation that they should only let 1 person do. I would tell anyone they need to really think is the pay worth all the crap that this place has.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. At the Bristol Va plant Starting with all of Hr an every supervisor needs walked out at the same time. That's the only way this place will get better but it will not happen so it will keep going down hill.

    I worked at Shearer's Foods full-time

    Pros

Great pay. They pay way over market standards for a production supervisor.

    Cons

We worked 14 to 15 hours on the days we worked. We had a lot of turnover of management and employees. Would not recommend Shearers to anyone.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your supervisors and explain the decisions you made so they can be passed down effective to the supervise.
