    Pros

Benefits are excellent, even in a post-Act 10 world. Dress is business casual for most positions. On average, supervision is understanding and flexible with their employees.

    Cons

For some positions, pay is lower than in the private sector. There is always concern about employees being laid off due to decisions made at the federal or state level.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to continue to be sincere and realistic with their employees. Compliments are great, but they must be honest.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Sheboygan County Government full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Wages, Benifits, has a great retirement system, free parking, free Dental on a Single Plan. Newer facilities, and safe facilities.

    Cons

Poor Supervision, only care about themselves. Poor work environment, supervisors standing over your shoulders constantly. Only those who kiss but get promoted.

"Routine, traditional top down, with little interaction between coworkers, and over worked."

Former Employee - Staff Accountant in Sheboygan, WI

    Pros

the amount of vacations, time off, lunch breaks, rest periods, and benefits are very good. The work is steady and consistent with a regular routine developing very fast. Independent and quiet work environment with little disturbances.

    Cons

Management style is top down, and old fashion. Manager hard to reach. Little instruction on complex issues that might arise, during the beginning and throughout the time spent there. Unionized so promotion is based on seniority not merit, so incompetence is often. Average age of employees there 40-60 years old. Over worked because of lack of ability to hire budgets set by committee. Software used to complete task old and archaic, again inability to buy new because of budgets set by committee.

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees, cut back on amount of union workers, become more available, and invest more in office tools such as software.
