    Pros

Given lots of flexibility with working hours and lots of opportunities to develop. Compensation is quite good and the flexes are a must

    Cons

No comments at this time. I enjoyed my employment with the company and all the opportunities that were given to me.

    Pros

    International company
    Competitive salary and benefits
Tons of opportunities to work throughout the company (upstream, midstream, downstream)

    Cons

Global decision to pull out of Canada leaving only a skeleton of what used to be here
Functional areas like HR and finance offshored to India, Etc which can be difficult

    Advice to Management

Over promoting individuals too quickly is not wise. People over 30 still have A LOT to offer. Houston is not the centre of the world.

    Pros

Good work life balance, Great training. Excellent perks of a big organization

    Cons

Its become nasty over the years due to investment banking style functioning. People are pitted against each other and its a white boys club.

    Advice to Management

Focus on stronger team than stronger individuals

I worked at Shell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Shell has a really neat training program for new graduates. In the right positions, you will learn a lot (site positions provide a great deal of experience for newer employees). There are a lot of smart workers at Shell willing to teach, also. The compensation is excellent.

    Cons

Shell is a massive company with its share of corporate politics. There are many toxic environments within the company that live in their own bubble. People with similar mentalities get promoted and portions of the company get eroded from within. It's a bit tragic and very difficult to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Recognize performers from non-performers, and have a better, objective evaluation system for rating employees. Take care of employees that have trouble speaking up but are extremely productive, and take care of employees that work behind the scenes and never ask for praise. They are hard to find but they are the glue that keeps groups together.

I worked at Shell as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Very specific project
A 4-month penultimate internship's main focus is performing well on the final presentation and e-tray

    Cons

Evaluation system encourages focus on project and penultimate evaluation, as this 2/3 of evaluation is outside your supervisor and mentors hands

    Advice to Management

It would be much more beneficial to base intern evaluation on their work and what they produce, in exchange for e-tray results
