I worked at Shell (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of the brightest people in the business! Supportive management, it's a brilliant place to build relationships. Great work life balance.

    Cons

There really aren't any cons, it was an exceptional place to work. Only very minor was the logistics of working so virtually across numerous offices in London due to the Shell Centre refurbishment. This is not a company flaw, only momentarily and geographically.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for respect other people’s opinions and it was uplifting to receive genuine praise and honest appreciation. Very inspiring....

I have been working at Shell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They have lots of respect for people and all of their differences. Very LGBT friendly. Lots of attention given to HSSE. Generally good salaries and pensions and good working environment and generally very good people who have a good work ethic and want to do a good job.

    Cons

Bit too much focus on cost cutting and short term gains. Reorganisations every 5 minutes. Too much focus on graduates and less respect for those who have been around longer with experience

    Advice to Management

Although cost cutting and reorganisations are important, have the confidence to sometimes stand back and maintain some stability and avoid all the costs and the headless chicken running around caused by the constant reorganising

Beurocracy, eveything is very slow and inefficient, there are many jobs that are don't allow you to grow. Lack to team spirit and everyone is for themselves.

    Pros

Good benefits, flexible working with options to work from home, good pay and bonus scheme

    Cons

I worked at Shell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Competitive reward package, opportunities to develop and grow and work overseas. Staff are technically very strong.

    Cons

Worklife balance poor, job roles narrow, strong level of arrogance at executive level and not in touch with teams

    Advice to Management

Get the basics right, listen to staff and broaden experience and skill set, too many corporate clones all with same background, unless you change the people you will not get new ideas.
