    Pros

The Management within the business are faultless, they accommodate last minute illness, changes in circumstances, and required time off, without issue.

I always feel supported, and kept up to date on work related issues.

Weekends off are a huge benefit, and a rarity in this industry, even if you work 45 hours one week you still have the opportunity to see friends who work weekdays too.

    Cons

No air conditioning makes it difficult to work when its a hot day, during peak hours.

Space in the back of house areas could be improved by the company collecting out of use items, such as: old glassware, old kitchen items etc.. As it often feels claustrophobic.

I worked at Shepherd Neame full-time

    Pros

Job security due to full contracts. Pension plans are okay. Some healthcare plans available and maternity leave is also available.

    Cons

Contracts are limited to a minimum hours of 8hrs a week even for full time staff (i was a bar supervisor working 50+ hours a week on a contract of 8hrs). Greivances at work are usually brushed off by head office and not taken seriously. Managment implemented are lazy and not proffesional.

    Pros

I enjoyed my time working at a shepherd and Neame pub.
    Bar supervisors were extremely helpful.
You never have to work on both Friday and Saturday if you do not want to.

    Cons

Some of the higher management would take advantage of their position in the company. They would often sit in their office and expect the bar staff to deal with issues that are really not in their pay bracket.

    Advice to Management

Take some more responsibility and accept that you are the face of the pub, it is not fair to put all the responsibility onto the bar staff considering their wages.

    Pros

Discounts on beer, and all of the other things in the shop on site. Also 20% discount in a lot of the managed houses.

    Cons

Family run company, not as competitive as it could be and not the most dynamic of companies.

    Advice to Management

Bring in someone more commercially minded to head up the company and to remove the bias that occurs when a company is still family owned.

    Cons

    Advice to Management
