I worked at Sheridan College (Canada) full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great place to work. A typical 9 to 5 with great benefits, PTO, and decent pay. There are lots of smart, talent people and it’s great to see students succeed. It always felt like a community, small town feel in a big work place. Another perk was OT since it’s was a pension hourly job.

    Cons

LOTS of red tape. Everyone is a people pleaser so the smallest of decision can take light years compared to the corporate world. If you work hard, no bonuses. If you slack off, no consequences. I always felt like we had no budget and buying paperclips needed approval. Not much room for advancement unless you move to management and are no longer a pension employee.
