I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No surprises, you know what you're getting yourself into. Intially, you might think it's just a paint store, but I've never worked for a company that has the growth opportunities that Sherwin does. It's all about what you put in, and if you work hard it comes back to you double. Everybody here is interesting as this company values a healthy work-life balance.

    Cons

Sometimes the stores will feel understaffed, but it's a busy industry and the retail volume at given hours can be difficult to predict. Also, nobody likes working weekends, so hopefully your store has a few people that can rotate Saturdays and Sundays.

    Advice to Management

Enforce accurate lead gen training and policies, too many stores/employees sidestep it. Store managers, sales reps and DM's need to keep better tabs on the effort going towards the program.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

401k benefits, stock options, a lot opportunities that this company offer, not mentions the opportunities to success and be promoted to many positions

    Cons

it could take you many years to reach a position like district manager, also the work could be physically demanding.

    Advice to Management

pay more attention to your employees because they are the key for the company to succeed. not just focus on the sales but also the employees because they are very important

Benefits are decent. pay is good for fresh out of college. Good company to work for. Been around for a long time

    Cons

Haven't worked long enough to know. But working weekends not the best. Have to relocate after training, not your decision.

    Pros

This is a great job out of college, but also has the potential to be long term career move. Many people stick around in this company for a long time because there are so many benefits to staying. Career growth and great upper management can be hard to find in a company, but Sherwin-Williams has both of those going for it. I felt like people actually cared about me here and that I was not just an asset that could be tossed aside at any point.

    Cons

Retail obviously has it's challenges with crummy hours and oddly scheduled work weeks. Although it can be fairly easy for a recent college grad to become a manager and make good money quickly, it can be difficult to make significantly more money after this without a fairly big promotion (many times requiring relocation). Many managers get caught between the range of $55,000-$75,000/per year for a long time.

    Advice to Management

Keep treating your employees as people and not as assets!

    I worked at Sherwin-Williams full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay was good but the amount of hours worked and constant standing and lifting the pay wasn't enough

    Cons

Heavy lifting, poor building infrastructure, majority of summer spent with poor AC or no AC, drove 1 hour to and from work, floated for seven months around the metro plex as an MTP, dealt with gross restrooms, rude men and even rude co workers!!!! Not for minorities at all especially women!!

    Advice to Management

Develop a better way of working with minorities and women in your company.

    I worked at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Prepared and motivated you to get ready for your next experience. The staff was generally friendly as well.

    Cons

Short staff, rolling hours, working by yourself, impatient/cheap contractors, low pay. Also depending on your area you may just end up being a "color consultant" for your retail customers.

    Advice to Management

Make the job more engaging to your managers. Mixing paint and picking colors isnt the most glamorous job to a college grad.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be a challenge. Minimum 44 hours per week for an Operations Manager and 48 hours per week for a Facility Manager.
