    I worked at Sherwin-Williams full-time

    Pros

Trained extremely well. Really get a true understanding of how to become a successful business person. You get back what you put into it. Highly recommend as a first job.

    Cons

You need to be able to be mobile if you want to advance your career. There is an overwhelming amount of busy work that they dump on you. You are required to do so much non-sense and then expected to grow your book while still maintaining your existing accounts. It is as if you are piling on new business while you are bleeding out of the back end.

    Advice to Management

It was really upsetting to see that management wanted the next people down the leadership pipeline to be the people that were stealing sales from others within the organization.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits (401K, stock, etc.). Closed a few days out of the year. Bonuses. Relocating is always an option since the company is so big. Pay is decent. Great place if you love sales and don't care to be home much.

    Cons

Pay does not compensate for the responsibilities. Politics and favoritism. Sales determines everything...but the company works against you most of the time (takes your clients away and gives them to other stores to make the numbers look good). Short staffed. Open too many hours- nights, weekends, and most holidays. Trying to make a specialty store like a big box store. Zero work-life balance. Store always comes first. There is no "calling off" without repercussions.

    Advice to Management

Stop working against your stores and sales reps. Give them budgets that allow for competent staff. Pay employees for the performances you demand.

    I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time

    Pros

Plenty of opportunity to move up in the company and the pay is decent.

    Cons

Have to deal with Incompetent management without the ability to run individual stores with any sort of fluidity. Not always the case but has been for the vast majority of different stores I have worked at. But that's pretty much anywhere you go. So long as the numbers look good the big fish are happy.
