    I worked at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Outstanding benefits, decent salary, job ladder that is clearly defined and obtainable for most, for a "people" person this is a very fulfilling job

    Cons

Store hours (weekends, sometimes late nights), on your feet most of the day (can be seen as a benefit to some), as a manager you are expected to work nearly 50 hours and sometimes this is not enough, assistants - 44 hours, product line is extensive and difficult to learn, corporate people are not always available when you need them, technology in stores is outdated and slow

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for, they take care of their employees and offer 401k, stock plans, benefits and compensation for disability depending on how long you have worked for them.

    Cons

Slow growth in the company but it is guaranteed growth. Depending on where you live or what district you are working in higher positions may or may not be available. Current employees have a lot of competition within the company and with outside applicants as well

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. But try to add more diversity within your management. Not a lot of mixed races or people from different backgrounds within the company corporate offices. Many hired in for higher up positions or within the family or friends.

  10. "Great for manual labor"

I worked at Sherwin-Williams as an intern

    Pros

Sherwin-Williams is a great company to work for. They really care about their employees and they demonstrate that through benefits, 401K plans, health insurance, etc. They promote from within, so once you're in, you have a good chance of moving up in the company if you do your job well. The hours are good for retail- 7 AM-7PM. Of course, only managers work 8 hour long shifts.

Overall, if you like the paint industry and don't mind getting dirty, this is a great job with many benefits.

    Cons

This is manual labor work. You have to constantly lift and carry pails of paint that weigh 50 pounds. There is also information overload. You have to learn anything and everything about paint and sales codes (they use a very old POS system.) There is high turnover among stores, so if people at your store leave, you have to work a lot more and a lot harder. Stores are also dirty- this is more because of the industry. I noticed acne on my face from touching dirty keyboards, paint shakers, and dusty paint cans.
