I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, Always something new to learn. Good starting pay, room to advance through the company

    Cons

New managers sometimes get placed too early in a position they shouldn't have. Some employees get placed in bad situations because of this.

    Advice to Management

Promote truly from within. You have great employees who get passed over for Management trainee candidates with no experience then rely on those employees to train your management.

I worked at Sherwin-Williams as an intern

    Pros

    Great training
    Fun people to work with
    Awesome volunteer opportunity
Cool end of the summer project that we present to the board, made for a great closure to the internship

    Cons

Work a lot in the stores rather than out in the field with the sales reps.

    Advice to Management

Allow for more rep ride alongs, maybe also a rotation between stores so that interns can get a better feel of how different managers manage.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Pay is relatively good. Management is supportive and teamwork is valued. Company values safety.

    Cons

Training is minimal so at first it feels like you've been fed to the wolves. During the winter hours are lessened due to less demand for products.

    Advice to Management

Increase hands on training and lessen the amount that is done electronically. While it might save the company money training in this manner it creates initial inefficiency and new hires quit because they are overwhelmed.

    Advice to Management

I would advise to offer more material regarding growth opportunities and possibly a mentorship program.

    Pros

Benefits, bonuses, and environment. Very good place to work at. You get the keys to a million dollar store and you run the show.

    Cons

During the Summer time you are too busy for lunch most days. Wished lunch breaks were more common. Can get understaffed easily.

    Advice to Management

Get help to stores sooner when understaffed.
