    I worked at Sherwin-Williams full-time

    Pros

Good pay and good benefits. The company likes to promote from within.

    Cons

As someone previously mentioned, psychological & emotional bullying/mobbing are alive and well within this company.

I have seen employees targeted for removal by management (after voicing concerns, or making a mistake on the job). These employees are treated/labeled as 'problem employees', and conditions are made so difficult for the employees over time (through subtle, difficult-to-prove forms of mistreatment) that they either quit, or are terminated after the performance evaluation system has been used against them.

If the employee leaves, the aggressors act surprised. As a co-worker, witnessing this counterproductive behavior permeates a culture of fear and silence (if you say something, you could be the next target).

    Advice to Management

This terrible behavior costs the company in the long run. It negatively affects the company's reputation, it is a waste of time and resources, it damages employee morale and health, and it consequently increases turnover rates.

Hold people accountable when they engage in unethical forms of communication. Educate employees about how to speak up when they see something wrong. Demonstrate leadership by responding with just action.

    I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time

    Pros

Pension and 401k, Stores across the entire US and Canada, Simple Product portfolio that is easy to learn

    Cons

Salary is far below market rates, lots of red tape/bureaucracy, Company bit off more that it could chew with Valspar acquisition, company focused on getting stock price as high as possible, not new-hire friendly

    Advice to Management

Start focusing on your new employees that you want to develop. Stop catering only to people that have been with the company for 20+ years. Start paying competitive market rates.

    Pros

Great benefits and opportunities if you start in an SW store.

    Cons

Constant change of direction. Upper management out of touch with the reality of sales arena. Very little opportunity to be heard by management - feels like they discourage input from lower levels. Do not recognize experience prior to SW employment.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to communicate with salesforce where they feel they can be open and honest.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits and pay are some of the best I've seen. They have a lot of nice resources since they're a large company.

    Cons

Work/life balance isn't good. The tasks can be very mundane and tedious.

    Advice to Management

Upper management is all about sales but then forget about the operations aspect of the store.
Also, yes there is room for growth but it's so structured that if you don't want to be a manager you're stuck. There are few other opportunities.
