I have been working at Sherwin-Williams as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful training and coworkers. Promotes within the companies and allows you to grow.

    Cons

Long hours and a lot of hard work if you want to make a decent living

    Advice to Management

Take employees under your wing and be very transparent with them regarding how the store is ran and the insides of the company. The more knowledge employees have the more they will work hard.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love the team environment, and the company values. I enjoy helping customers and doing it the right way, and that is what Sherwin Williams is all about. I enjoy interacting with customers and my fellow employees. It makes the day go by quicker, and also allows me to enjoy doing my work.

    Cons

Working long and difficult hours. When you are at a commercial store like myself you are consistently doing physical labor or helping a customer. There is very little downtime. This can be difficult at times especially when you have to management and deal with other issues.

    Advice to Management

Leadership/management techniques should be taught more. From my personal experience some people are put into managerial and leadership positions and don't know how to effectively communicate with employees. This can result in a less effective staff overall.

    Pros

The company IT program usually handled all of their problems with their hardware or of mobile device software extremely fast

    Cons

There is not really many bad points about the company. Just some upper management not the fastest responding to emails

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

SW provides a good salary and benefits. Hours were good at corporate office. Plenty of extra training if you want it. A lot of good people to work with. Tuition assistance is great. I know several people who have earned their degrees or masters degrees while working here.

    Cons

Some managers are not qualified to have people working for them. They don't have a clue what the people they manage actually do, nor do they have the people skills to effectively manage and retain employees.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great internal promotion rate and benefits. Ability to work and go to school. Great training programs and incentives for workers.

    Cons

May have to work weekends. Days in the store can be very long. Wish it paid more.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep the managers around longer. The promotion rate is so high that managers move in and out very quickly.
