I worked at Shire full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, nice facility, and most people were great to work with. It is fast-paced but to be expected and it provides for a non-stagnant work environment.

    Cons

Management (mid and upper), pre-Baxalta, especially in facilities was poor and unprofessional, nor were they knowledgeable in the tools of management. Half the management grew up with each other so they were protecting each others job rather than just doing your job. Plus these managers would steal the ideas of others as their own. This provided for a negative work environment and they would stifle the hard-chargers.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully flushing out the poor, non-qualified managers helped improve the overall environment...although they became another pharmaceutical's problem

I have been working at Shire full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The actual work is interesting.

    Cons

With the Takeda takeover coming, most people are nervous and a lot of people are leaving. Hopefully, this will also mean having local management, not management in Vienna. They simply do not understand how to cooperate with and/or manage Americans.

    Advice to Management

Be mindful of the fact that the Shire/Baxalta transition was a mess and make this transition with Takeda smoother and more transparent with as few layoffs as possible.
