I worked at Shook Hardy & Bacon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Interesting work. Nice building.

    Cons

Has become very dysfunctional since management turned over to administration. People targeted and bullied out the door because of their age to reduce insurance costs despite excellent work. What is left is inexperienced with no guidance billing client's 5-fold for the same work one person did previously. Expect to be gossiped about and being pulled in being accused of something that you know nothing about. Very disturbing place.

I worked at Shook Hardy & Bacon full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Smart people. Nice, professional office space. Good location.

    Cons

No management training; as a result, hit-or-miss with managers. Lots of change. New leadership = long-term uncertainty. Pay and benefits good, not great. LONG hours and relentless work pace. Lots of insider talk about the long-past family feel of the firm; focus solely on profits now. No longer a premier firm for those on the non-attorney side.

    Pros

Fabulous place to work. Great leadership, highly talented attorneys and other staff, genuinely good people.

    Cons

SHB is a big place, can be a bit impersonal, with an ever increasing focus on the bottom line.

I worked at Shook Hardy & Bacon full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Training is great, benefits are good and year end bonuses were decent.

    Cons

Staffing issues at times. Workload or work product do not always reflect in raises as HR cannot possibly know what all staff is handling when the company is so large.

I have been working at Shook Hardy & Bacon

    Pros

SHB is a great place to be and to gain a lot of experience. There are some great people in the records department.

    Cons

SHB does not pay well, and will work employees on all levels to death without compensating them. If you are not an attorney you do not feel as important. Many of the partners are not friendly and treat professional staff like "the help". If you are a lower level employee expect to do paralegal or higher level work of which you will not be compensated for. There are many privileged behaving people walking those halls!
