I have been working at Shoosmiths full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    The non-salary benefits are great

    Cons

The people that work here all think they are 10x better than they are because the company big them up so much the salary is appalling the management is appalling they don't care about how you feel about your work they only care if you are a robot like the rest of the people here You don't know where you stand with management, one minute they are telling you off for something petty as hell, the next moment they... make a laugh and a joke with you, makes for a very uncomfortable environment Also, it is almost as if the company teaches their employees to throw other employees under the bus to progress their own career

I have been working at Shoosmiths full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nice offices Lots of knowledge around you and you feel supported Great people working here. Working day flies past and is generally enjoyable.

    Cons

Rules and expectations seem totally inflexible. If something needs to be done outside work you find yourself struggling with how to get it past management. Some people seem to be unable to deal with individuals. One way of speaking to someone fits all - whether you are 18 or 50!

    Advice to Management

Find ways of making yourselves more approachable. Acknowledge people working outside hours and don't assume (or don't appear to assume) that they are doing it because of their lack of ability to get the work done during the course of the working day. A generic email does not suffice.

    Cons

Opportunities to progress to more senior roles and training contract roles are limited and seem to be biased. Some teams are short of staff with unmanageable targets.

    Advice to Management

Increase wages and career progression in order to retain staff.
