I worked at Shoosmiths full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Modern offices Extra day off to use during your birthday month and a £50 voucher Great social events Free fruit and an alcohol trolley every other Friday! Some lovely people to work alongside Great induction programme

    Cons

Very, very low salaries Long working hours (9am - 17:30pm is the standard but you will be expected to be there earlier and stay later) Favouritism between certain managers and employees All staff apart from PA's/secretaries are allowed to work 'agile' with laptops and mobile phones but the clerical workers are chained to their desks! Very small IT department for such a large company

    Advice to Management

There are a lot of people leaving Shoosmiths recently and from other anon reviews and from personal experience, this is due to the people they are employing in managerial positions. A lot of people experience being pushed out and are not introduced to as many training opportunities as others due to favouritism between managers and employees. There is another review which states that there is favouritism between... 'drinking buddies' and people who are allowed to leave early to go to the pub or WFH which I can completely agree with and it goes completely unnoticed by the managers higher up! A lot of the newly employed staff consider themselves to be better than others and a lot of the lower salaried employees (LA's, PA's, post room assistants etc) are looked down on

    I worked at Shoosmiths full-time

    Pros

Unfortunately there are no real reasons for a experienced IT professional to work at Shoosmiths.

    Cons

No meritocracy in the IT department. Promotions are given to drinking buddies and "yes" people. This leads to managers who are unable to manage and do not have the aptitude for technology in roles that require them to manage reports and technology. There is favouritism towards friends and drinking buddies, i.e. WFH and flexible working hours. Yet everyone is expected to work 9 to 5:30. The senior IT ... management team no not have an understanding of new technology or working practices, they are antiquated, yet keep stating they are agile. Threats, bullying and spiteful attitude shown to IT staff who try and improve things that the management cannot, with a "people should now their place attitude". On numerous occasions I went into meetings and had explain to IT management on how best to proceed with tasks, only to have that information relayed back to me in emails by the management to make it look like it was their initiative. Made to work 19 days in a row without a day off. Part Time managers.

    Advice to Management

The rsg b2b team need to be split. Team leader has no control and no empathy and unable to support or train.

I worked at Shoosmiths full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Some genuinely lovely people who are talented at what they do.

    Cons

An increasing number of not-so-talented people who think they are good at what they do.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the politics, it's toxic and good people are leaving.
