I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You have a chance to get promoted.
    They have e-learnings to offer.
    Employee discount.

    Cons

Bonus of manager is not shared to the rest of the team.
Little chance to be a full time for cashiers.
    No benefits for part time.
    Working with always grumpy manager.

    Advice to Management

    1. Not just listen to your staff. You have to understand.
    2. You're working with the team. The team either lifts you up or bring you down. You have to know how to deal and recognize them properly.
    3. You don't bring you personal problem at work. Try to separate it.
    4. You should share all the successes with everybody else.
    5. Know how to take good care of staff and they'll stay with you until the end.
    6. You don't own anybody. Nobody owes you because you hire them. They were paid because they work hard for it (especially deserving people)
    7. Try to smile and be friendly. I always tell people I work with "we are friends but if it's work, it's work! We accomplish first before we play"
    8. Success is ALWAYS a WE not just I or YOU.

I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Benefits and discount
Some really friendly employees I have always been able to find.
    Good verity of products
    Always something to do

    Cons

    unfair treatment
Unfair wages for the work you do.
Way to much p.o.p especially in cosmetics
    Promises are not met

    Advice to Management

To make sure all the staff are treated the same. I have worked at a few shoppers and 2 of them have made many of the employees feel the same way as I do. I have kids and first thing asked will they effect your job? Well yes they might. Will I not be hired cause they may effect my job? Stuck at my other job. Messaged employee 30 mins before store opened and I got wrote up. No verbal warning nothing.

I worked at Shoppers Drug Mart full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Other assoc were great. The pay was good.

    Cons

You are just a body that is replaceable at anytime. There's no recognition for a job well done or a Thank you. The owner makes it clear who he likes and does not like. Most of the PT assoc didn't even get a Hello or eye contact from the owner. I felt bad for most of them working in such a negative atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

There is a reason why Shoppers Drug Mart always has advertisements for jobs. Until the pharmacist owners and store managers change the way they treat assoc, there will continue to be openings.
