- "Unprofessional leadership that brags about how previous leadership was bad but still does the same" (in 3 reviews)
- "CEO is completely out of touch with his own business and has half a dozen personal assistants to enable his projects." (in 3 reviews)
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Nimble company that has come a long way in recent months with regard to direction and people.
Cons
Normal challenges of a start up.
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Stay away if you have any other option. High turnover and permanent chaos.
Jul 25, 2021 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Payroll was on time once HR was hired Generous PTO Dedicated employees at the junior level trying to do their best
Cons
CEO is completely out of touch with his own business and has half a dozen personal assistants to enable his projects. In reality their job is to filter out his worst ideas and minimize the chaos to the rest of the company. CXO is a genuine person but ineffective and has little influence. CTO is a power player with the CEO's ear and uses it to remove those with different opinions. Shyft has also gone through 3 heads of product and 4 sales VPs in past 12 months alone. The constant leadership turnover affects the day to day ability for junior and midlevel employees to get work done. The best hires quickly leave once they realize the internal chaos that was hidden during the hiring process. Because the mess comes from the top down, it is unlikely to ever change.

CEO has built a toxic culture
Feb 14, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Glad to not be at this company any more.
Cons
-The CEO is mentally unstable and treats his employees very poorly - especially in Belgrade, Serbia -Most of his executive team has left because of his poor leadership style, frequent negative emotional outbursts and tantrums, blaming others instead taking accountability and inability to have empathy. - CEO has very low EQ - Husband and wife run the show and they argue often - very uncomfortable working environment -2 co-founders have left for the above reasons -Most of the C-level leadership team has turned over (CTO, CPO, CRO and CMO) -Toxic work environment and culture

Great Startup Company - Excited to be a part of it
Oct 12, 2017 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Even though we are still developing procedures there is a great team spirit at Crater. Everyone knows Crater's goals and works together to get there. I get to be heard on processes and help develop them which is much different in a large corporation where it takes months to see small changes. Management is mostly transparent about everything so we know whats in the works.
Cons
I work a lot of hours to get done what needs to get done but i enjoy my work

AVOID AT ALL COSTS
May 25, 2020 - Office Manager/Personal Assistant in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I got paid... after having to email 3 different people to set up payroll myself
Cons
No organization. Culture of verbal abuse. Expectation that you will work round the clock. I worked in San Francisco, and CEO explicitly told me I wasn't worth my salary, because they have a team in Belgrade that works 24/7 for "a third of what you make." No real HR, so no one to report these abuses and improprieties. Had the privilege of listening profanity-laden rants. No boundary between executive suite (husband and wife team) personal life and company business. A lot of these "positive" reviews are fake or forced reviews from the Belgrade team.

It gives me a finer appreciation for my current job after having worked for this husband/wife circus

Don’t invest yourself here unless you have nothing to lose
Mar 11, 2023 - SalesRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You might end up in exciting unexpected places. Rare periods of optimism.
Cons
Lack of transparency. Unprofessional leadership that brags about how previous leadership was bad but still does the same - making decisions based on anything but real data, regular layoffs, toxic culture, etc. They tried to wash themselves by bringing in a new CEO, but the manipulation became even worse.
