I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They pay and benefits are above average and you can find room to move around and grow with the company.

    Cons

They are continually looking to comply with broad-based cost cutting initiatives coming from Germany - this keeps everyone on edge. Also, management consists of too many "sacred cows" who have been at the company forever and often do not appreciate new ideas.

    Advice to Management

Be careful that your direct reports are not just covering up their own inadequacies by throwing their underlings under the bus.

I have been working at Siemens (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a huge company and unlikely to go bankrupt any time soon. It's almost impossible to get fired here unless you commit murder.

    Cons

Almost impossible to get a promotion or change jobs internally no matter how highly you're rated. Raises are pathetically low, so if you come to work here, negotiate as high a starting salary as you can. You'll have to follow everything Germany dictates, no matter how much it might make sense or save money to do otherwise. The 401(k) plan is horrible (Aon Hewitt) - very few funds, all proprietary, not publicly traded so you can't track them, no index funds! Paternalistic management style. They nickel and dime their employees - example: while traveling, you may only spend $10 on breakfast, $15 on lunch, and $25 on dinner, AND it's not a per diem! No matter where you go! So unless you eat out of vending machines, you're going to have to kick in some of your own money so you don't starve to death. I literally had a higher dollar limit for meals over 20 years ago!! OK, I'll stop now.

    Advice to Management

Your talk is great - please walk it. You say "we must reduce complexity" and then introduce more. You say "Siemens must buy its own products" but it's easier to buy competitor products because you won't spend the money or time to integrate your ERP systems. Value your current employees and be willing to invest as much in us as you do in trying to get new, young talent in the door (who then leave in a few years anyway). Stop paying lip service to diversity and actually promote women and people of color.

I worked at Siemens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I don't think there is one in working for people that lie to you and mistreat you everyday. Instead of trying to help bring the best out of employees they focus on the smallest of things to mistreat you.

    Cons

Management is a joke that can't do the job of bringing work rather you beat down on the poor employees that are trying to perform their job to the best capability

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your employees rather than treating them like crap
