I have been working at Siemens PLM Software as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Extremely flexible with school scheduling
    - Friendly supervisors that are very helpful in learning the company
    - Meaningful projects that creates positive affects on software development productivity and the actually product itself.

    Cons

    - It can be very slow at times. You must be patient.
    - Very quiet and old environment, but I can see them trying to hire more millennials, which is a good thing.

    Advice to Management

It bit more of a faster pace environment would really encourage new hires and interns to stay within the company and be more excited about the work. Overall, it's great!

I have been working at Siemens PLM Software (More than a year)

    Pros

Siemens has been around for a while. They are established and this stability shows. PTO is more then generous and overall a very relaxed environment.

    Cons

Most people who work here have been with the company for 20+ years and are very much set in their ways. This makes it difficult for younger people to get excited about working here.

    Advice to Management

Overall good job, however it would be nice to see a change in bureaucracy and red tape. Acceptance and understanding of millennials is a must for the future.

I have been working at Siemens PLM Software full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Friendly staff. Produce great products. Makes you proud to work there. Broad range of PLM products, so whatever your specialty, there is a product to work on.

    Cons

Aging staff. Very capable management while not very innovative. Not the place if you are into building a career measured by advancement as there is already a large number of good potential managers in the rank and file.

I worked at Siemens PLM Software full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are pleasant to work with, but sometimes you can be really isolated.

    Many locations.

Lots of room to learn if you find a good mentor.

    Cons

    Low wages.

Upward movement is unlikely, you'll be stuck doing the same thing for even a decade before you realize how much time has passed.

    Older workforce.

    Advice to Management

Promote internally with meaningful promotions. You'll lose your best talent to companies willing to pay decent wages.

I have been working at Siemens PLM Software as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Smart engineers, relaxed culture, friendly managers and good relationships. Easy to talk to other engineers and learn about the company.

    Cons

Older methods of hiring, which is not ideal for interns moving on to full time positions. They are looking for experienced individuals and I couldn't even stay in my department due to the lack of positions being created by the gap between inexperienced interns and experienced professionals.

    Advice to Management

Hire younger people. The people here are retiring and not getting any younger. I've been to 3 retirement lunches since I've interned here and I have been turned down for a position. Some managers are getting this right. Some are not.

I worked at Siemens PLM Software as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was able to learn many new software platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint, HTML, and CSS very quickly even though I did not know anything about them ahead of time. Tons of autonomy in everyday tasks.

    Cons

Team was located around the world, so no real interaction with people in the office besides my boss. After a while, my boss who was one level below the CIO became very busy and was not able to provide me input on my assignments as frequently as needed.

I have been working at Siemens PLM Software full-time

    Pros

Very technical group of truly brilliant minds. Have learned much from other professionals in the building.

    Cons

Very limited upward mobility, Company benefits are pretty weak. The HR deprtment is mostly gone from visibility with no useful interaction with the employees. The company now has no sick time, everyone gets an extra five days of Paid Time Off with no regard to time with the company. Short Term disability is required for anything beyong five days at 95% of pay. After eight weeks, goes to 55% of pay and you then have to pay for you own insurance. Pretty crumby for young mothers or folks fighting big illnesses like cancer. HR is a sad joke, they are not to be trusted.

    Advice to Management

Really need to not let employees be pigeon-holed into jobs. And really need to improve the quality of the benefits package (sick time, HR support, retirement benefits). And need to truly pay for performance and not just mouth the words.
