I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good pay
I cant really say anymore. They shrink benefits each year. Maybe they will read this and change. Its a job I guess.

    Cons

    -Sexism
    -Politics
    -Micro managing
-Desire to shrink budgets affecting progress
-No work life balance - If you have a family, they dont care.

Daughter attempted suicide a couple months ago. Asked my manager for some help and understanding. Was told I would have to chose whats more important. If you have family issues, steer clear of Siemens.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of management that does not care about the welfare of their people.

I worked at Siemens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked for SBT for 16 years, started with Landis & Gyr who was a great company Good Salary advanced quickly.

    Cons

SBT ruined a great company to work for and their Customer Satisfaction was the pits. Left due to poor Customer commitment and to many Managers

    Advice to Management

Make Customer Satisfaction #1 and treat your people like you Care about them.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company for education and learning. Good benefits

    Cons

Does not see value with employees with over 25 years experience with the company.

    Advice to Management

Please look at the intangibles that older people of value bring to the company. I just was RIF'd when I 34 years with Siemens.

I worked at Siemens as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Discounted lunch in the cafe
    Discounts at nearby restaurants

    Cons

The Global Mobility department is a mess. Management is terrible and does not provide clear direction. Siemens acquired Dresser Rand and didn't hire staff to keep up and integrate. Software integration is non existent.

    Pros

Very safety oriented, and they spend millions on equipment and videos for site specific training.

    Cons

Extremely unorganized, treat employees like a number, they do not care about you as a person, they dont listen to employee ideas, or concerns.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, even the apprentice might see something the master doesn't. I saw this time and again on the job. All the money spent on safety training and nobody listens to the new guy trying to tell everyone scaffolding was ready to fall. Had to finally refuse to work until addressed. Then i was pushed out. Not cool.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

OK entry level job, you don't need any former experience to get hired. Very good insurance for direct hired engineer.

    Cons

This is specific to West Chicago plant. As an engineer your past experience doesn't matter/count at all. Everything in the engineering group is Con, management is horrible, and communication to the employee is based on secrecy, very unorthodox. Your skill set will rot as you are underused for it. Everything is micro-managed and all the blames go to the engineering department (manager never fights back, instead adds more pressure on to the group). Everyone is here for him/herself, there is no such thing called teamwork. There is zero training but management expectations are high. It lacks manufacturing procedures and processes, open issues get just patched. HR is rarely present when needed. There is huge engineering/staff turnover. Such unorganized plant I don't understand how it holds Siemens name.

    Advice to Management

Form and train all employees about Siemens processes, procedures and Ethics. Some managers got to go.

    Pros

Paycheck won't bounce. The offices are kept clean and climate controlled.

    Cons

Everything stifling you can imagine about corporate is found at Siemens. Germans are the untouchable class because they are the superior race. Just ask one, they will tell you. In this environment being right about an issue can cost you your career.

    Advice to Management

How do you change favoritism in the workplace?
