I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Siemens is a well respected company, providing the possibility to work at multiple places and job function.

    Cons

Pay is low compared to the rest of the industry. Managers are not well versed in proactive sales. PM's are the face of the company. Leaving this facility at a disadvantage. PM's are good at projects, not good at customer retention.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your salesforce. Stop depending on project managers for developing your key account relationships.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Siemens is a great brand but it can only be held back so long by its people.

    Cons

The Great Central Zone has some really old school mentality players (especially in the building technology realm). How old, think not being able to use an iphone correct, not forward thinking, not connected (except to retirement communities) and talking with them is like watching paint dry. Trust me, don't risk your resume on building technologies with Siemens. Johnson Controls or Honeywell are far better performers in this area.

    Advice to Management

Refresh management but don't let the old school management make the decision (we all saw what happens there in the Great Central Zone - the word "Great is a part of the zone name and should not be confused with leadership or performance).

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Siemens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The "in the trenches" co-workers were great people. Benefits were decent, though declined each year. Not much else on the upside.

    Cons

Way too many layers of disconnected management and not enough people to do the real work. Decisions are made many levels above the heads of those who actually understand the problems. Horrible work/life balance and mandated 60+ hour work weeks for salaried employees (while managers work their 40 hours and go home).

    Advice to Management

Reduce your management overhead. Way too many talking heads and too few real workers.
