I worked at Siemens as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Loved learning about combustion turbines and how they help provide us all with electricity.

    Cons

It seems like this industry will be hurt eventually by renewable energy. It will take a while but it has to happen eventually.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. My boss was humble and kind. Could definitely of spent my career working for him. Great team too.

I worked at Siemens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay. Teamwork is excellent. Tech supervisors are amazing and ensure you have what you need to succeed. Plenty of overtime if you are interested in that.

    Cons

Work life balance is not there. Instead of hiring more techs for the work load they just continue to pile on the overtime overworking the techs. Spending tons of time out of town and away from family.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people to ensure you don't burn out the techs.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You can have a long career.

    Cons

Favoritism plays a huge role here.

    Advice to Management

See people as people and instead of numbers and/or replaceable. Some people have a value that can't be replace with a new person off the streets with no experience.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Flexible hours. Relaxed work environment.

    Cons

Unorganized. Siemens is not good with standardization. There's a lot of "recreating the wheel". Though it's a big company, it feels like a one man show many times.

I have been working at Siemens (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Travel. Manager that you actually work under for SEI, is great.

    Cons

Low pay for the amount of work they want you to do. Hiring Manager for Siemens Fossil Services does not want to pay a good hourly rate. They do not give yearly raises. 100 % travel.

    Advice to Management

Start treating the temporary outage workers better. Give them raises and open up some seasonal jobs.

I worked at Siemens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, leadership training, customer/product knowledge

    Cons

Bad management partners, bad production managers, no quality department or operators,

    Advice to Management

I never complained but I was being bullied daily and the supervisor would not support me. Please listen to your team leaders they are the team/product/procedure experts they do it everyday if you've chosen your team lead/coordinators wisely......
