I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Siemens is focused heavily on R&D and make their own products. A lot of training opportunities and the benefits are not bad. 401k match dollar for dollar up to 6%

    Cons

Management is beholden to shareholders and therefore the company is constantly changing middle and upper management.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and be actively engaged leaders. Managers seem far to distant and focused on way to many meetings instead of making decisions.

I worked at Siemens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They made the switch to their company fairly seamless, no change in my income or work hours. It basically meant a new polo shirt and a new name on my checks, that's about it.

    Cons

It was clear that their focus was maximizing profit. When we started, there were 9 employees on site to cover the 3 shifts, 7 days a week. When I left, they had downsized to 6 employees, which made it very difficult to take sick or vacation days as we were on a permanent skeleton crew.

    Advice to Management

Consider having enough people onsite to ensure that the employees can actually utilize their vacation/sick days and maintain a decent level of morale.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

some flexibility on schedule, you are able to learn as many modalities as you like, stock options, good vacation time, good insurance, great 401k match, service area

    Cons

on call, management has no backbone, service area can be too widespread at times, promised 24hour response time on service calls

    Advice to Management

support your team and promote those who deserve it, if someone is busting their butt and needs support be there fro them.

Great people to work with. Loved learning about combustion turbines and how they help provide us all with electricity.
