I worked at Siemens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked for SBT for 16 years, started with Landis & Gyr who was a great company Good Salary advanced quickly.

    Cons

SBT ruined a great company to work for and their Customer Satisfaction was the pits. Left due to poor Customer commitment and to many Managers

    Advice to Management

Make Customer Satisfaction #1 and treat your people like you Care about them.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Large company for education and learning. Good benefits

    Cons

Does not see value with employees with over 25 years experience with the company.

    Advice to Management

Please look at the intangibles that older people of value bring to the company. I just was RIF'd when I 34 years with Siemens.

I worked at Siemens as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Discounted lunch in the cafe
    Discounts at nearby restaurants

    Cons

The Global Mobility department is a mess. Management is terrible and does not provide clear direction. Siemens acquired Dresser Rand and didn't hire staff to keep up and integrate. Software integration is non existent.

    Pros

    Big name
    Free business cards
    Laptop and phone while employed
    Free brochures

    Cons

A total mess. I took a career in medical device sales making an average of $208,131 (per year over ten years) to this company with a base of $80k because I liked the name of the company and bought the sales pitch (my mistake). My zone manager hired a sub-manager and fired him about two months later. Then fired my other manager who had been with the company for about four years. Two direct managers terminated in 2016 alone (read between the lines and that spells trying to save your job)!!!! After their terminations, I then reported to him directly. He had been with the company for 30 years and worked like it was 1980. No support, absolutely no contacts (which astonished me) and no forward thinking strategy. His strategy was purely to make it to retirement and try not to rock the boat so he could keep his job. He had three kids still living at home in their 20's and thought that was normal. At 39, I was then let go despite being number one in the zone the previous year. Fortunately I could retire at 39 from the money I was making in my 20's and early 30's when his kids were living at his house.

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to drop the lagging zone management and put young and forward thinking energy into the zones. What worked in 1980 isn't what works today. Siemens is a big and slow conglomerate but if Germany understood this misdirection, they would clean house! In short, don't tarnish your resume...

    Pros

Benefits, Pto, and working from remote location.

    Cons

There is not any diversity in the department when it comes to race and age. Unfortunately, there is no training for new employees. The managers find it humorous to say it is a sink or swim environment. I literally had 10 minutes of training. It is a very stressful environment. The office is extremely quiet. Team leads don't take the time to lead and make sure that you everyone is on the same page. They will low ball you or the salary. Credit Analyst salary ranges from 50-67k make sure that you fight for your salary. The Director is extremely rude and doesn't speak to her staff. They force you to participate in extracurricular activities in order for the Director to look better on their PMP.

    Advice to Management

Train and know what is going on within the office.

    Pros

Very safety oriented, and they spend millions on equipment and videos for site specific training.

    Cons

Extremely unorganized, treat employees like a number, they do not care about you as a person, they dont listen to employee ideas, or concerns.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, even the apprentice might see something the master doesn't. I saw this time and again on the job. All the money spent on safety training and nobody listens to the new guy trying to tell everyone scaffolding was ready to fall. Had to finally refuse to work until addressed. Then i was pushed out. Not cool.
