I worked at Sierra Nevada Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    1. Fatih and Eren are amazing at what they do. They both display graciousness, generosity, and have demonstrated for many years that they care about the employees and they value loyalty.

    2. SNC offers amazing benefits. The 401k is one of the primary reasons I spent 20 years there. The pay is also very competitive. New employees can actually earn as much as employees in identical roles who've been there for years.

    3. SNC seems to be financially very stable and always growing. The company is involved in so many areas of technology. Leadership is very dynamic and progressive in that area.

    4. For technical people, it' can be very interesting work, with opportunities to grow and learn about numerous cutting-edge technologies in the mechanical, electrical, and software realms.

    5. The company is full of great people. I made many friends during my time there. Most are honest, intelligent, and hard working.

    6. You generally will not lack the tools and resources to do your job effectively (see #5 below).

    Cons

1.Not all of the people surrounding the owners seem to share their values and there has historically been a high turnover in admin and numerous other areas, leadership position or otherwise.

    2. Work-Life Balance can be horrible. If you're a salaried employee - they own you. Programs in the same business areas function like competing companies but under the same roof! Employees either work directly for a program or business area and program managers seem to care only about their programs, not what's best for the company. They can be petty, selfish, and short-sighted, and in general are not team players, probably due to the competitive environment.

    3. Employee morale at times can be very poor and up to the point I left, had been horrendous for yeras. Generally speaking, save for the 'golden children', employees are pigeonholed and have little chance of being promoted into desirable or leadership roles. SNC management has a long track record of filling those positions from the outside (often with their military buddies) instead of promoting from within.

    4. The environment can seem like a snake pit to those not adept in political machinations. The company employs many retired military officers, most with immense egos who treat subordinates like they're expendable. If you are careful and savvy, however, and find your way into their graces, you may enjoy unlimited opportunities.

    5. Training fluctuates between adequate and abysmal. Whenever they acquire a new company, training budgets are one of the first things cut. To keep up with the changes in your field, you might have to pay for it yourself or simply go without for a few years

    Advice to Management

SNC management would never solicit, value, or heed my advice.

I have been working at Sierra Nevada Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, medical dental, vision, short-term life, long-term life, bonus, pto, hoidays, 401K with employer match. Great co-workers and management very enjoyable culture with many perks.

    Cons

The downside is that the pay could be better and I am not sure about the growth path. They claim to want to help you succeed in your chosen path, so I am hoping that is the case.

    Advice to Management

Continue to collaborate, taking input from the employees doing the actual labor, and implenting process improvements.

I worked at Sierra Nevada Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent 401K. Schedule flexibility. Great, motivated people. Recognized, quality support of US government. Close match with other former military people made transition easier.

    Cons

Lack of communication between HR and people concerning upcoming layoffs/position eliminations. Limited support between HR and outgoing/gone employees with regard to other opportunities available within the company. Culture and values touted by upper leadership do not match up with truth on the ground.

    Advice to Management

When you know you are going to let someone go/eliminate their position give them a few weeks' heads-up so they can begin their job search

    Pros

Great Benefits: 401K w/ 150% match, med, dental, vision, and life. Lots of opportunities all over the country with many types of program

    Cons

Work/life balance 6 mos per year overseas travel
Pay scale has decreased over the last 5 years. People are getting paid less to do the same job.

    Advice to Management

Provide a transition program for employees who would like to continue with the company without having to travel all the time. Or allow for less travel spread out among more employees.

I worked at Sierra Nevada Corporation as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing benefits, good pay, ample parking, free donut/bagel Tuesday (or maybe that's a con), ability to move up in company, great people work there, company is stable

    Cons

Nearly everyone I talked to complained about being overworked and not having the option to work less. Burnout is high, building lack windows, and there are weekly birthday celebrations in the cafeteria you're essentially required to attend. They're the worst.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people rather than overworking the ones you have
