    I worked at Sierra Wireless full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Very good benefits
    Good working environment - Good resources as far as test bench and computer systems and new products
    Gym (Basic)
    Interesting work, ability to research and improve your skills

    Cons

    Training was a weak spot: We wound up reading manuals and spent a lot of time trying to figure things out ourselves or trying to re-invent the wheel

    Advice to Management

    Overall a positive experience, but more work on a consistent training program would help considerably

    Pros

    Company had a good work environment and was performing well.

    Cons

    More recently the upper management seems to not have a good idea of the direction they want to go. After recent acquisitions things are not looking well.

    Health benefits and work from home

    Cons

    I would pass on a job with this company. Point of sale is not delivered in a timely manner and is always incorrect. Management is weak and do not seem to have the experience to run a professional organization. Sales Managers who join this company should be prepared to spend most of their time in Salesforce. This limits the amount of time spent customer facing.

    Support your sales team and deliver accurate point of sale in a timely manner

    Pros

    Great healthcare plan, great HR staff

    Cons

    In my opinion, this company should be used as an example for law makers to draw up an employee bill of rights or somehow for unions to regain their former popularity. At one point, on average, 1 person was fired every 2 weeks. The CEO/COO perpetuated a corporate culture of fear.

    This type of environment, which starts at the stop, results in a ripple effect throughout the rest of the company. The people that survived are incredibly judgmental, would constantly talk and skype about each other and on numerous occasions racist remarks could be heard from management and employees alike. Salaries were below average, pay raises non-existent unless your position/title changed, you were required to work federal holidays without being paid time and a half and required to be on standby and take calls in the middle of the night and weekends without any compensation. This was justified as being part of the job and in line with being an exempt employee.

    This is one horrific company to work for but this is just one person’s opinion based on recent and actual experience.

    Please retire

    Great health benefits. Supportive team willing to help each other succeed.

    Cons

    Poor management and lack of promotions given for employees working their hardest for you.

    Advice to Management

    Provided weekly or monthly 1:1 meetings with employees to help provide feedback so the employee can stretch and grow. Yearly reviews aren't enough

    I worked at Sierra Wireless (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The company had a lot of smart, talented people. Unfortunately, the economic downturn a few years ago put too much pressure on them and they became a prime target for a takeover. The company that acquired them did a great job during the transition but they ended up they closing several of the locations/offices.

    Cons

    Since the global headquarters was in France, opportunities for advancement could be limited.

    Pros

    Management seems to care, and you have lots of opportunity to learn new things. Works are challenging though, but the are available resources within your team usually .

    not much growth opportunity or promotion
