I worked at Sikorsky full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is descent for a large corporation if you have years of experience and at least 4 years of college

    Cons

The walk from the parking lot to the building is a long walk and then the walk through the building to your desk is further

    Advice to Management

None. I have no words for management. Sikorsky was bought by Lockheed and most of management positions have retired or left as their positions were no longer needed.

    Pros

High pay, real experience in engineering

    Cons

Oftentimes didn't have anything to do, shouldn't take on interns if they don't have a projected in mind for them

I worked at Sikorsky (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Highly ethical management philosophy with great opportunities for employees to earn a company paid degree.

    Cons

One of the toughest management environments that you will ever encounter. UTC (the former parent company) its plagued with politics and people in the top echelons of management that have very little regard for their people, in the way they manage the organization. It is so metric driven that very often the human aspects of the business are overlooked or willfully ignored.

    Advice to Management

You must clean the house on the old boys club and hire Level 5 leaders (Read the book "Good to Great" by Jim Collins to know what it means). Humanize your metrics, many of your HR related metrics around employee engagement are not effective drivers of management decisions, they are just simply ignored in many organizations.
